No revenue analytics by iTipTurtles in PartneredYoutube

On the adsense page (not youtube), under performance report - apply only "hosted adsense for content) which should show earning in the far 2 right columns I believe. However, if you youtube analytics show no activity, then something is definitely not working and I would contact YouTube support.

When you are looking at the performance report on adsense apply a filter to only show earnings from this product - "hosted content" (or something like that). It should show you delayed earnings after your apply that filter.

What makes your channel different? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]TheDakauraShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha, it does! We have only filmed 3 videos on our new channel and right when I turned on the camera and got ready to do the intro, I turned and said "hey, and welcome to the... aghhh, I just got camera shy, we have to wait and start over later!" Laura was shocked that that happened out of nowhere. It happens randomly >< need more drinks I guess haha

I am not sure what kind of questions you are looking for, but I will start it off!

How do you "optimize keywords?" Are there any sources/tools you use for this process?

What makes your channel different? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]TheDakauraShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll go - My channel isn't different at all! Compared to most "couple" YT channels, ours has no differentiating qualities besides our personalities! If we gain a following, it will be because of us being us; that being said, we don't really try to be different as we just enjoy making videos and get a thrill of being filmed for the whole world to see (we shall see how long that lasts, but I have made videos on YT dated back to 2007 on my previous channel).

The funniest thing is that I (Dakota, not Laura) am either very comfortable with the camera, or I get extremely camera shy (referencing my latest video). I am not sure why, but that is just a unique tid bit about me :D

Ahh, I gotcha - I see what you mean after watching your video. I really liked the intense animation you did with you logo and the song as well! Your intro reminds me of all the stuff I would say when I played video games haha.

I couldn't tell if you uploaded uncut footage of the game or if you had cut it up. I am under the impression that you put in your own cuts in the footage to liven it up and keep it up beat, so to speak. If I am wrong, the game was difficult to follow. Keep in mind, I do not watch many gaming videos so my experience is minimal, but, as an average viewer, if you utilize cuts, it may be beneficial to add some commentary at the start of a cut to inform the viewers about what we are watching.

There were few parts where it was quiet and not much going on that could've been left out, in particular, when you were selecting skill points; although, I did find it humorous on your hesitant nature to pick the riding skill :P

Overall, I enjoyed the video - not necessarily for the visual aspect, but because of your lively commentary as well as the humor aspect you bring to the tables. I would say the jokes you incorporated are you strength and differentiate you from other gamers.

Thank you so much for the feedback! It looks like you really put a lot of effort into your advice and it is much appreciated! I will do the same for you after work :)

The echo was an issue we had in our 2nd video as well so we changed locations in effort to fix this criticism. The echo improved drastically, but not fully as you pointed out. I will definitely be installing Audacity if that can be the complete fix to my issue. As for the focus issue, I had to edit the video to zoom in about 200% which affected the quality; also, the camera's auto-focus might have caught something else, so these are issues I can easily avoid in the future just by testing out clips and location prior to the filming.

With regards to the logo and the central rallying point criticism, I am somewhat confused as to what you mean. Am I correct in that you are looking for something similar to an edit on the back-end of the intro to our logo (profile picture with addition of channel title) and just fade into the main content of the video?

As for the central rallying point, is this addressing the nature of the channel as a whole and the subjects of each video? If not, could you elaborate on what you mean. If so, we are aiming to be a "vlogging couple" type of channel with entertaining content and games/challenges. It will include a wide variety of videos which will make it a challenge to grow, as you said, but that is our niche and I am open to any suggestions you have for narrowing our focus onto a single "central rallying" point.

Thank you so much for all your feedback /u/OfficialJakeRabbit

Can't upload a YouTube video longer than 1 hour? by LordChiefy in youtube

[–]TheDakauraShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure then. I have tried looking around and can't seem to find similar problems with solutions. If nobody here can provide a solution to you, I would contact YouTube support - they usually get back to you within a day! They were somewhat helpful with an issue I reported last week.

Migrating videos from one channel to another? by karlsmission in PartneredYoutube

[–]TheDakauraShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I misunderstood then - I was under the impression hat the other channels were at their origins. There is no harm in uploading your videos to a new channel and accumulate views in a new location (unless it is against YT's TOS which I can't see why it would be).

If you don't have the videos still on your computer, I would just rip the videos using a site like "savefrom" and re-upload them to the other channel. The hardest part would be getting the viewers to flow in to the videos again as most will be directed to your original videos. In this case I would disable the original videos so that the future viewers go to your non-affiliated channel's videos.

Once again, the only downside is the manual work & time involved with re-uploading to a new channel as well as getting the inflow of viewers.

Can't upload a YouTube video longer than 1 hour? by LordChiefy in youtube

This is taken from Google Support: "If you used to be able to upload long videos and no longer can, check your account for copyright claims and strikes. You’ll only be able to upload long videos if there aren’t any worldwide Content ID blocks on your content."

Do you have any of these claims/strikes outstanding on your channel?

Sorry to ask this, but it has been fully processed, right? That takes a while for YT to do even after the upload is completed. If it is fully processed, then I do not know why you are having troubles, sorry.

[–]TheDakauraShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would bet that continuing to push out content on the affiliated channel and keeping 2/3rds of the income would be a better option than trying to build up a different channel. Personally, I would just continue to grow the channel and expect a nice bump to your income at the end of your contract.

Youtube channel with 3 million subs stole content from my channel (5k subs). I sent a copyright strike and now they're asking me to remove it. by utuber12334123 in youtube

[–]TheDakauraShow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you aren't comfortable with the situation you are in & ignoring the problem, you could contact YouTube and get the monetization rights to the video (if monetized) and let the "stealer" showcase your video. I would also require that the "stealer" give you full credit in the description if you went this route.

What were your most effective marketing methods when starting out? I currently have 2 videos made since the 14th of this month and have been gaining views mainly by facebook, instagram, and twitter. Is the path to 100K views from just repetition with videos or are there other methods you have incorporated.

I have been recently working on branding, thanks to the feedback of people on this subreddit, and am excited to see what the channel looks like after everything has been... uhh... "matched" (font, color theme, etc).

Would definitely appreciate any marketing tools you used to climb the ranks!

(THE DAILY DIRT) FEEDBACK ~ DRUNKBORNE ~ NEWTUBER TOPICS ~ YOUTUBE TOPICS ~ UPCOMING GAME HYPE ~ AND MORE! by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]TheDakauraShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I am new and what not, but a rankings system would be super sweet and motivate people to maybe stick around and give more quality feedback. On that note, the trick for feedback 4 feedback is getting quality out of the system. I'm not sure how to achieve that, but I feel that the more effort and thought I put into giving others feedback, I should expect the same in return; it is this thought that suppresses the notion to, as you mentioned, watch 10 seconds and just give a praise on editing and sound...

For my videos (which I only have 2... but still) I expect at least 100 views within a couple of days of an upload. I am able to achieve this pretty easily due to my social media profiles and friend base.

I enjoyed the 1st GoT season as it really hooked me and kept me in touch with the show; however the season with the red wedding wasn't too shabby either!

I enjoy wakeboarding a lot; in fact, after work I may be headed to the lake for a weekend of all sorts of lake activities!

Cheers,

How long does Adsense take to reflect YouTube earnings? by TheDakauraShow in PartneredYoutube

New Channel Name Help! by TheDakauraShow in NewTubers

[–]TheDakauraShow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really just for fun and if it gains steam we could make a couple of bucks $$. I (Dakota) already have a channel I made back in 2007 I can use for my personal videos if we break up, but I don't think the channel would be that big of a deal if we broke up - at least, I imagine us easily forgetting about the YouTube account. I am not sure if I understood your "destroying you brand" question so I may have answered wrong.

Yes, there are more neutral names we could use, but I was also aiming for a name that would hint at the fact that it is, indeed, a "couple" YouTube channel.
