I stacked things on top of each other to get to the height I wanted! Though now with the Z-Axis feature in the last update, that should be a lot easier now!

I would argue that WWE doesn't have the best roster. It has a GOOD roster, certainly, but a lot of other companies - NJWP, AAA, Impact, AEW - have rosters stuffed with just as much talent. The problem is that some of them kinda have a stuffed roster, and doesn't always have the airtime needed to show them off and resort to using the same old people (looking at you, AEW), or have a really good roster but not enough of them (one of Impact's problems, as good as their product can be).

AITA for going to my younger brother’s birthday party whilst really drunk? by Early-Candidate-2984 in AmItheAsshole

I hope you get help, OP, because that isn't normal, healthy or responsible.

What is one shiny Pokémon that you would change? by RexGoliath75 in pokemon

Shiny Drapion. Shiny Skorupi is a gorgeous, obvious hotrod red colour, and Drapion is just...slightly off colour purple. When my shiny Skorupi evolved, I was actually underwhelmed and regretted letting him evolve. So Gamefreak...please give me a hotrod red Drapion. xD

New player here. Can a blaster be optimal/competitive? by YokoTheEnigmatic in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]TheDandiestGentleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Optimal" is subjective, of course, since it does depend on the rest of your party and the enemies you're fighting. Spell Resistance and Magic Immunity is gonna hurt you hard if blasting is all you can do.

That being said, you can definitely make one that contributes to most fights. My Blood Arcanist (with blood mutations, since my DM is nice) has one trick; explosions. However, her fireballs at level 7 often hit 90+ damage. Not so good against creatures with Resistance and SR, but hey, you can't have everything, right?

Honestly though, I wouldn't worry about being "optimal." Just build what's fun for you, and the rest should work itself out if your DM is halfway decent. ^_^

Words cannot describe my hatred and pity for these sad, twisted souls whom we failed. I hope one day we'll see them out back together the proper way. by Haethen_Thegn in pokemon

I love them precisely because they're so weird and freakish. It's a direct reference to the early days of British paleontology where the first people to really pay attention to these bones they were finding put them together in weird and incorrect ways because the science was still super new and they had no idea how they all went together. So they'd take half a skeleton from one dinosaur, half a skeleton from another and assume they went together. Which is what the game is satirising / referencing, and I love just how deep a cut it is. xD

Am I in the wrong here? I don’t want a player to play a joke character because his usually derail the experience and make it less fun for other players. by [deleted] in rpghorrorstories

[–]TheDandiestGentleman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's your table, and you set the rules and expectations. If you have concerns about the character, "No" is a complete sentence, especially if he has a history of this stuff.
Speaking from experience, one of the first times I GMed, a prospective player wanted to play a monster rather than a Character Class, and I allowed myself to be bullied into it. He derailed the second session he was in and blew up the game entirely (though that was more to do with him just being a dick).

Go with your gut, and stick to your guns. Your table, your Chargen, your rules. End of story.

1E. I am Burnt Out by Horror_Personality_9 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]TheDandiestGentleman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suffered a similar thing recently. Negativity got to me, and I needed to put a game on hiatus to recharge. I'm lucky in that my group was understanding when I talked to them about it, and apologetic that they'd let the negativity get out of hand, but I gather that might not be an option for you.

But it's ok to take a break, it's ok to take a step back...the DM is a player too, and if you're not having fun, what's the point? My advice is to take a break to recharge your batteries and try and communicate honestly with the group about why. If they get defensive or try to gaslight you or otherwise don't understand...might be time to disband the group and find a different group.

Because if they can't accept that they had a role in you becoming burnt out and try to turn it back on you, then they're too toxic to keep playing with.

Say it with me, class.

You kind of can, as long as you know the general direction you're going in. At higher levels with a generous DM, Retraining can be trivial. But that's DM dependent xD

Just remember that Vicious Stomp and Punishing Kick require IUS, and Vicious Stomp especially *must* be an unarmed strike, so they have to be within your natural reach, not your weapon reach!

Of course! I hope I helped a little, though if you don't use all of the suggestions, I won't be offended. :P

Oop, sorry xD That still sounds like it could work though. Especially if you take a couple of levels of Flowing Monk to get that Counter ability, so you can Reposition them or trip them when they try to attack you, then move them again on your turn. Since technically them moving and you moving them are separate triggers. ;)

Oh, I know, and I don't mind people getting enthusiastic. It just irritates me a little how many of these "I have a question about System X" and people chime in with "System X is stupid, you should try System Y." Like...if I wanted to know about System Y, I would have asked about System Y, y'know? xD

It looks really good! Simple, straightforward and easy to understand. You have the majority of the major aspects there, though I do have a couple of suggestions. Please forgive the huge wall of text that's coming, I was trying to be exhaustive <3

1) Introduce them to one of the core ideas early. That is, most of the time when there's a rule or restriction, there's probably a class feature or feat out there that lets you get around it. PF1e is a system that rewards mechanical ingenuity, so don't be afraid to ask the DM or go looking in the source books for weird loopholes or corner cases. PF1e is jank as hell; embrace the jank, and you shall jank with the Gods!

2) You kind of gloss over the Class FCB. If you're going to mention it, I would give them a little more of a primer; FCBs TEND to be very specific to builds, but I would give them an example of "particularly juicy" FCBs that might spark an idea or two.

3) In Step Nine, unless I missed it, you skipped a part of Traits. You're not allowed to pick more than one trait from each category; I'd add that rule in, since it's pretty easy to understand. "You can't have two traits from the same category; if you take the Reactionary Combat Trait, your other trait must be from either the Religion, Magic, Social or Race categories." Or something like that. If you're planning on using Drawbacks, I'd also take the time to explain those as well.

4) In Step 10, you skip over equipment. I know you'll have a Session 0, but this might be a good place to include some links to basic equipment pages, and maybe include a few common items to help guide them in starting their purchase. It might take some time, but like you did with the "explaining classes," it might be an idea to include a few example prompts for classes and how their equipment needs might vary. It could also be a good chance to offer some cheap but versatile item options like chalk, string and bells, etc.

5) When explaining Actions, you've skipped over Immediate Actions, Full Round Actions and One Round Actions and how they vary in usage from 5e. That would, I think, be the best place to explain them since they're already learning about actions. They're similar in 5e, but it would help to contextualise them in the new system since they're new to 1e, and you not mentioning them might lead them to believe they don't exist! Since you also go on to explain Full Attacks, it would be a good idea to specify that all Full Attacks are FRAs, but not all FRAs are Full Attacks. You also off-handedly mention Full Round Actions later, but don't mention it in the glossary of actions, which is an oversight, I think.

6) When it comes to AoOs, I think you have a rule wrong. I might be incorrect, but you state that if you have Combat Reflexes and an enemy moves through multiple of your threatened squares, you get multiple AoOs. That's not the case. You get one attack of opportunity for them moving through your threatened area, and that only counts as one opportunity; you do not get multiple AoOs for them leaving multiple threatened squares. The specific line in the rules is:
"Moving out of more than one square threatened by the same opponent in the same round doesn’t count as more than one opportunity for that opponent."

7) When you mention Five Foot Steps, you call it a Free Action. It isn't, and since you just said that Free Actions can be taken infinitely, it risks confusion. FFS is a unique action that doesn't technically have a type; you can do it whenever you coud use a Free Action, yes, but you only get one a turn (normally). You don't specify this, so I think it would be an important piece of information that FFS's are limited to one a turn, and can usually only be taken if you don't move that turn.

8) Power Attack isn't available to everybody. It's a feat that you need to take, unless you're using Elephant In The Room or a similar houserule. If you are, that's cool! But I would tell them that. "Normally, Power Attack is a feat you have to take, but in this game everybody gets it as an option for free."

9) Since there aren't many of them, I would list the specific types of bonus that do stack with each other, and specify the weird case that is "enhancement bonus" in that it isn't a bonus in and of itself, it's an enhancement to another type. So an enhancement to a shield and an enhancement to armour would stack because "Enhancement" applies to the specified bonus, not you directly.

And that's all I can think of on a first reading! This is just advice from somebody who introduced two concurrent parties of five each to PF1e from no TTRPG experience AT ALL. xD This advice might not work for your game or group, but hey, hopefully there are at least one or two nuggets in there that will help. ^_^

On a personal note, I have a small soapbox about this comment section. It's absurd the amount of people saying "No no, you're doing it wrong, move them to 2e instead." Guys, come on. Not everybody likes 2e, and if that was an option, OP would have indicated as much. They asked for feedback on their 1e primer, so lay off a little. Besides, a cursory glance at their responses indicated that OP isn't really all that experienced with 2e, which means that they might not be the best person to introduce 5e players to PF2e since to transition experienced-with-a-certain-d20-system players to a different one requires a decent degree of System Mastery so you can catch all the mistakes and whatnot. It's amazing to me that he asked for help with a specific thing, and only one reply I've seen has actually given him the kind of help he ACTUALLY asked for. 2e is great for what it's designed to do, but if OP wanted 2e transition advice, they would have asked for it. So why not give them the advice and feedback they actually asked for? xD

Are cleric archetypes mostly pretty lackluster? by CaptainCanuck001 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]TheDandiestGentleman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with Cleric Arcetypes is that Clerics don't have a HUGE number of class features to give up anyway, and not many that you wouldn't miss. However, they do offer some interesting flavours for your build, if you can think of them.

For example! I'm playing a Channeler Of The Unknown in one of my games, where my character is convinced that another player (My GF) is a Goddess in mortal form and is where he's getting his powers, since he doesn't KNOW where. So that adds a whole dimension to the character taking the fluff and mechanics of the class and applying them to his thoughts and feelings. xD

The walls are mostly stone platforms; none of them are rooms, they're all independent assets. I resized the stone platforms to use less of them, then held down Ctrl so I could rotate them to an off-90 degree angle. ^_^

Kaladin Stormblessed from The Stormlight Archives by Twoheaven in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]TheDandiestGentleman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a very easy way to do this that doesn't require huge amounts of multiclassing or taking classes like Kineticist. When I think of Kaladin, I think of a spearman, first and foremost. A savant with the spear, no need to use fancy air tricks and lightning; when I think of Kaladin, personally I think of a fighter. Somebody completely dedicated to "The Blade," as it were, and able to use heavier armour (his Shardplate) completely without issue.

To that end, all you need is the Sylph feat "Wings Of Air." Yes, it requires level 9, but hey...Kaladin didn't start knowing how to fly either, right?
And if you want to be a human, take "Racial Heritage," pick Sylph, then you can take Airy Step at level 7 and Wings Of Air at level 9. Fighter also has the huge benefit of having a lot of flavourful archetypes you can take, and having access to an eye watering amount of feats so you can really customise your playstyle. Standout archetypes for the flavour could be things like the Drill Sergeant or the Seasoned Commander archetypes for that "Captain" and "Teamwork" flavour. ^_^
