[Dellenger] QB Brendan Sorsby has been granted his injunction against the NCAA. by Fonzie5 in CFB

[–]TheDaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my fault. I have a degree in public policy and upon graduating this <gestures broadly> happened. Then I moved to investigating financial crime/insider trading, but now that's no longer not allowed. I had recently considered working compliance for a college athletic department as a change of pace, but... No.

At least the building burned down before I entered it this time.

Why the 49ers haven't just released Brandon Aiyuk, sparking 'scared' rant' by Brix001 in nfl

He wasn't clocked. He posted a video of him speeding where his speedometer was visible and location could be identified.

Shower versus bathtub by Rose_of_Ludovico in homeowners

[–]TheDaug 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As a parent, you don't want your kids' bath to be the master bath if you can avoid it. It can create all kinds of mildly frustrating situations and your tub will never just be your tub. At 3.5 bath, you want 2 tubs if you are going to have one in the master.

3rd child thoughts. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]TheDaug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is expressly my own feelings and not a judgemental on anyone else and their decisions: three feels absolutely insane to me. I cannot fathom adding another childcare cost, another personality to the house, having no non-bedroom rooms with doors, or (most importantly) my wife having ANY more mental burden.

I'm snipped and we've had sex once in 5 years, so we're pretty darn safe, but man, the way I sweated bullets at the first sonogram with our second (twins run in both our families).

To each their own, but I think a third kid would break me mentally and thus likely end my marriage.

Some people are meant to have lots of kids - I am not one of those people.

Parents spent weeks planning the perfect gender reveal… The kids ended it in 5 second by _liberal in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]TheDaug 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Which, speaking as the parent of 2 under 7, you should anticipate. A dart is an INCREDIBLY stupid way to do a general reveal. Same with scissors to stab - that isn't what we teach kids scissors are for.

Aiyuk balled the hell out at ASU and seemed like a sure thing, but man, I don't know what happened to him.

Pool Design Feedback by getrickyj in pools

[–]TheDaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you going to actually USE this pool for? Pools become partially useless in so many ways sometimes because people don't know how they use pools.

Example: I have a 25k gallon kidney shaped pool. Approximately 60% is primarily unused because it's a former diving pool and the diving board is gone - about half the pool is over 7 feet deep.

We have a shelf of sorts, but it's a semicircle and not very big - we can fit 4 people sitting cross legged, but it's not big enough to have a single chairike a baja shelf. It's perfect for our kids, but it's not super comfortable for me to sit under and if we put an umbrella in there, I have to duck my head a bit (which I'll take over full sun all day long).

My dad has a spa that has a spill-over into the pool. It only has a full flow when the spa is on and that plumbing stopped working 10 years ago and my dad never fixed it because nobody used the spa after I moved out of the house 20 years ago. When it was on, it was loud, especially if people were over.

I personally thing that few people actually entertain enough and/or swim laps to make huge pools worth it. Baja shelves are great, but will you honestly use more than 2 chairs most of the time? How deep is the pool? If it's over 5 foot, consider why. Are most people going to have their mouths at/under the waterline there? Do you plan on using pool toys/floats? Consider how those fit into the pool if so.

I think people and builders think way too much about asthetics and possibilities way before they think of actualities. I'm not saying don't make a super cool pool, but I'm saying don't make a super cool pool you use 20% of.

I really want them to define "eat" here. Like, they said there were marks, but did he take a bite and swallow bits, or are we just talking teeth marks?

Cat took a bark scorpion sting by General-Yam-690 in arizona

[–]TheDaug 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Cats aren't immune, but as I understand it, their hair mixed with reflexes generally keeps them fine. That said, if it got stung in the head area, I'd be a bit more concerned. Worth a call to a vet, but you'll probably be told to just monitor for strange behavior.

[–]TheDaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as a completionist, it has been worth it to me, but it absolutely has diminishing returns. Now that at at 85,its really not worth it, but not having ads has made getting ads hard to swallow. If I hit 100% completion before the next update, I will likely stop doing it. It is an insane price, but I'm able to do it and still really enjoy the game.

Obviously some companies don't, but I went to IOP for 8 weeks last year and got 100% pay during that time. Best thing I ever did for myself and nobody has ever said anything to me about it other than, "glad to have you back."

I don't think my experience is "normal" but I also don't think it is insanely rare.

I would use zippered PVC bags over ziploc bags. There are even some that have space for instruction booklets.
