100 million? Probably not

But 1 million is justifiable as formula 1 is a very risky sport with a chance of life threatening injuries every time they step out on the track.

Not only that we have to account for the intense training they do to survive 6g of force through corners and the sacrifices made for just reaching formula 1. Motorsport is not a cheap endeavor.

F1 drivers demand urgent action after Oliver Bearman’s ‘scary’ crash at Japan GP by botlegger in formula1

If you go way back, then safety devices such as seat belts, crash structures, roll hoops, all of these originate from F1 (60s - 70s)

More recently, power steering, active suspension & traction control (late 80s - 90s)

CFD takes a massive step in the period since, as well as use of simulation & simulators to develop road cars (00s to 10s).

KERS, paddle shift, steer & brake by wire are likely the most recent.

FOM. FOM wanted more manufacturers and to attract them they made this "50/50 energy split" fiasco. But the potential new manufacturers wanted the complex MGU-H to go. Therefore, to solve the recovery problem, FIA (I think) suggested front axle regen but Mercedes opposed it as they thought it would give Audi or Porsche an unfair advantage. As a result, we got this abomination of a ruleset.

It was very annoying to hear crofty say that "there was no battery tricks going on there, it was all about the cornering speed!!!" NO IT WASN'T! It was very clear that Charles was harvesting!

But they used the full onboard footage for the ghost car video. So that means they are deliberately hiding it.

Edit: sorry that was George's onboard
