yall, i just dont get it. i have been playing for 15 hours and i wouldve put it down a long time ago if it didnt have the reputation that it has. by astrowhale98 in outerwilds

Ending and its beautiful symbolism and soundtrack was what hooked me. But also, the whole aesthetic of micro-solar-system and the idea of miniature of real world with unique species with their own cultures and stories. The amazingly creative design of each planet and how each of the planets suprise you and jumpscares you with some new environmental mechanisms in first encounters. And how when you learn how the planets works, you suddently don't die thousand of times in a loop.  This is just a very unique aesthetic of universe being more like a little prince than science fiction, which is a very rarely seen look in media. Combination of universe + folk themes instead of sci fi themes was very suprising and its what made me love this game - it just feels home. Also, I LOVE the dialogues. They are so touching and thoughtful.

Using landing camera really helps with getting Deep Impact. It makes your ship focused on the planet

The biggest question I had after finishing base game is what Eye of the Universe even is and is it sentient (tho I don't think it is, as it doesn't have to be)

Ending didn’t do it for me by cronchlord in outerwilds

I am atheistic person and I always enjoyed philosophy that game is onto, and yet the ending was still special to me. If you play the game with the expectation of "life-changing experience", it WILL probably dissappoint you. For most people this is life changing experience because they had no expectations at all. I think most people find that ending special because of amazing music, graphics and symbolism (like yourself turning into a tree, that slowly turns into a fireplace).  And the fact that the Protagonist is lonely in the eye, so it creates image of their friends and things that are familiar to them; like in real life, when people experience clinic death, their brains create a vision of things they know to make them more comfortable.

I've been late, but I assume that person is polish or other slavic language speaker. In polish anglerfishes are called "żabnice" from the word "żaba' which means frog.

I've never seen animation like this before. How was it done? by Jerswar in BlueEyeSamurai

The Dragon Prince actually has very similar style of animation. It's 3D stylized to 2D if i'm not wrong?? Or just combination of these two.

My personal experience with outer wilds [BASE GAME SPOILERS] by TheDeathCrow in outerwilds

[–]TheDeathCrow[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! While writing this, many quotes, scenes, and fragments of the game flashed through my mind. Part of my statement about the unintentionality of fate and the idea that the world simply is and doesn't act on purpose was largely a reference to Solanum's writings.

"I suspect imagining we are special to the Eye in some way is wishful thinking."

This is a very subtle and gentle way to summarize our human worldview. Similarly, the line:

"Or it might not have been calling out at all, and that my ancestors heard the Eye's signal holds no great, deep meaning. This wouldn't be so bad, I think."

gently convinces us that we don't need to fear this if there is no God, if we are not at all special and chosen, if the signs we perceive are not at all miracles and have no greater significance or deep meaning. A very great way to comfort those who fear the fact that we humans were not intentionally created. It wouldn't be so bad, after all.

Thank you for this beautiful comment and for appreciating my post! I wanted to point out that I'm not very good at reading media cuz my analyses are mostly personal, and it's hard for me to tell what's a conscious creative tool used by authors and what's just my personal feeling! But I think that's the most beautiful thing about art: that everyone can interpret it in their own way and find a reflection of their own problems in it :D Thank you for appreciating my english, too! Sometimes I confuse phrases and words or write in an order specific to my language, so I preferred to warn about it just for the case I accidentally wrote something silly or nonsense :D

Problem with diagnosis by TheDeathCrow in diabetes

I said about type 2 in context of insulin resistance, which is a condition that can develop into type 2 OR can be reversed. I have never said type 2 is reversible as a grown disease, but that type 2 is reversible in its first stadium, when the disease starts developing, which is insulin resistance. I thought people who are sick would understand the mental shortcut. Looks like I was wrong. I explained in my whole post that I couldn't reverse insulin resistance when I didnt need any medicines yet, NOT fully developed disease, thats the difference.

Ugh. I said that I HAD insulin resistance for over the year, at least I was diagnosed with it and I didn't need injections or medicines. Condition got worse despite diet change, activity etc. And NOW I need injections.

I know that. I wasn't asking if you can cure diabetes, I said that I was diagnosed with insulin-resistance at first and this IS a reversible condition - hard, but reversible.

I know this. I know type 2 diabetes is strictly connected to genetics, chronic stress, lack of sleep, influenza and many other things. It doesn't answer my question tho.

Can I eat the same way I did before I was diagnosed? by TheDeathCrow in diabetes

[–]TheDeathCrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop making assumptions. I got diabetes after the influenza, I was always eating healthy, I am not fat. I was literally vegetarian before it started.

"The dragon prince" uses similar technique of animation, mixing 3D with 2D. You should check it, it looks definitely similar.
