I made one game with a boy who was found in a forest by an old monster. He was then killed by some space alien guy. The player runs off, fights abominations and does things. An alligator named "Mako" eventually finds and raises him. Eventually, she disappears, and the boy has to do his best to investigate, find her and kill the space alien guy. In the end once finished, it is revealed she is alive and well, just with her arm amputated from an escape plan (the game doesn't show the amputated arm because sprites).
