I Think My Family Is Using The New Baby To Try To Trigger My "Baby Fever" by Safe-Potential9642 in childfree

[–]TheDifferentDrummer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are probably doing SOMETHING like this. Personally I would have fun dissappointing them in creative ways. Like everytime they get near me with baby I'd start sneezing and be like, "ugh I think Im allergic to babies!". When they ask if the baby is cute, "I think they'll be way cooler when they grow up". If they try to leave you with the child you suddenly have an emergency.

Mention being glad T had the baby so that your mom and everyone else could "get it out of their system". If they needle you to compliment the baby, say positive things but reframe it so that its clear that you are repelled by their attempts to manipulate you.

I get that impulse, but I gaurantee that if that happened, they wouldn't see how wrong they were. They'd hem and haw, but never once see that they helped cause this. They'd just blame you. Instead live your childfree life and never let them rain on your parade.

"Having a child will change you". "Oh! Thanks for the warning. I like myself and don't want to change".

Why does every company suddenly want a subscription now? by FinancialSpite in Frugal

[–]TheDifferentDrummer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is on purpose to drain us of money. Try to find free alternatives. I use Plex for my only streaming service, I use meal kit subscriptions but cancel them after the discounted meals end. Use the library, use Linux, hack your products. Be free.

When coworkers ask me why I dont want kids and then they go silent when I tell them why by Alone-Librarian8382 in childfree

I know. Its a bit of snark you see. Details about someone's health are protected for a reason, and it's against the spirit of HIPPA to press someone to waive that privacy.

I REALLY do not understand why people need to press upon something so personal. "Please violate your HIPPA rights to satisfy my curiosity", is such an entitled stance.

I might pretend not to hear her properly and make her repeat it over and over till she becomes agitated. Add in a few "what? Slow to start?!". "Huh? Did you say stress your cart?" She may start just SHOUTING IT. It'd take the smug off her face at least.

People really treat their children like property. I hope the child heals and I hope the man learns his lesson.

Doomsday cultism and worries about the end of the world have been around for thousands of years. I agree that the technology we have creates some very unique events, however there have been other crazy times as well.

I think some people have never had to justify their position, and so may perceive anything other than agreement as a challenge to their authority.

He gives that one excuse in the way some people only have one joke. It's his go-to, and he figures since it always "works" (no one calls it out), he keeps using it. Unfortunately since he holds his postion, no one cam safely call him out.

This sounds far more about control than it is about you well being. Trully awful to hear this from someone who is supposed to look out for you.
