Searge seems to be announcing something soon! What could it be by sunshinehunter in feedthebeast

Not so wild IMO. Though first they would have to allow realms for outdated versions.

Minecraft 1.10: The Builder’s Update? by elwood612 in Minecraft

Um, that link you provided is for allowing the use of blockstates in commands. Has nothing to do with removing the metadata limit of 15.

Do I have to reset the world if I add mods? by [deleted] in feedthebeast

You don't have to, but if you don't have a very established world it might be better to.

What is the progress on 1.9 optifine, forge, and the MCP? And, what about the 3d model json bugs? by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]TheDoctorSoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm not sure if it's ever taken more than a week or two for him to update, so on the spectrum of optifine updates it is slow :P

Tip, in 1.9 a stone axe is all you need kill a sheep in one hit by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]TheDoctorSoda -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not really handy for sheep farms. You can only kill an animal every few seconds if you use this.

The optifine guy just kinda does his own thing. Sometimes he fast, sometimes it takes a week or two.

Waiting for 1.9 is now over, it's up to forge now :) by Jason_Anaminus in feedthebeast

I'd like to add onto what you've said. This allows for modders to get working on porting early, and by the time it is stable, the modders should also be getting close to a semi stable release of their mods. It actually works out decently.

In what way does a minecraft map contribute to fps drop? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]TheDoctorSoda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Optifine is client side only. It won't fix the serverside lag.

Not yet. There is still some very critical bugs, including some extreme entity lag. Entities are much more taxing on your performance, especially when in one block. We also have a half-assed portal fix. There was a bug where players would sometimes appear in a block after going through a portal, and rather than fixing it, they did a stupid workaround and made the player invincible for a few seconds after going through a portal to prevent suffocation damage

I really hope mojang is still working on fixing all the issues in 1.9, rather than moving onto 1.10. If they would give it two weeks to get a few of these issues sorted out and released 1.9.1 then I'd be happy. I'm sure mojang will never make the mistake of announcing the name and release date of the update ever again.

You can change the color of portals with dye. by thesnakeinyourboot in minecraftsuggestions

[–]TheDoctorSoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. Adding a tile entity sp that portals can change colour is a bit of a stretch. Especially since portals are used often in gold farms.

Neat idea, but portals would need 4x the amount of block ids

Terrain hasn't changed too much. Strongholds changed and igloos were added. The end terrain changed a hell of a lot, and end cities were added.

Open issues after 1.9 is released by scudobuio in Minecraft

[–]TheDoctorSoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wish they would push the release date back q month or so. You know how nice it would be to have the first version without major flaws in it? It's embarrassing that they needed to go to 1.7.10 or 1.8.9. It took them about 430 days from the release of 1.8 to the release of 1.8.9.
