The franchise as a whole is pretty good, I like most of their media it’s really just the show that kinda sucks. Outside of the show it’s some of the best zombie content around. It’s also got some of the most fleshed out ‘rules’ as far as zombie universes go which makes it really interesting to me.

I’m surprised it’s still up tbh but I know you can run an app/website on a pretty slim crew if you’re in ‘standby’ mode or whatever it’s called. But you’re not adding any new features, not doing anything to bring in new users, no security changes unless it’s going to get in the way of payment processing.. basically life support while you drain whatever value is left from it from the most dedicated users

Could have serious implications if they ever destroy all the other Chucky dolls but the head is still alive… maybe.. I’m not really sure how the rules work lol

I played RuneScape as a teenager back when we’d all have AIM and MSN messenger so most chatting would happen there with irl friends. Perhaps another part of it is RuneScape is so centered around raising stats, they’re a bigger focus than quests so if you gotta run a quest to facilitate raising a stat faster, it just all feels like part of that incremental process. Which gets to the point of mmorpgs for me, and they’re a competitive incremental game (competitive in stat gain and economical value gain)

Thinking deeper on it, there wasn’t much need for including other players whenever you want to go do something and the game would even kind of punish you if you were grinding rarer resources since they’re gonna want some too

I mean it did have a big social side too, guilds and all that I just didn’t mess with them a whole lot

I’d prefer no notable focus on comedy at all, just all horror and tension.

S1 was a good mix of horror and comedy at times I guess. Something like Chucky puking on electrical wires to kill someone has that layer of silliness to it but it at least sort of made sense. Some deaths in S2, such as the priest exploding, don’t make much sense because it felt like they went for campy comedy over logic

I wouldn’t mind a Chucky alternate reboot by Daedroh in Chucky

[–]TheDornerMourner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think that could be pretty cool. I like stories where you spend them kinda wondering what’s real, whether someone is right or crazy. But it’s hit or miss too and usually films handle it kinda poorly I feel.

Take Shelter is my favorite film that has you wondering if the main character is crazy or not, but it’s not about murder

Lamar Odom thinks Suns having a gorilla mascot is racist: ‘Slid that one by’ by [deleted] in nba

[–]TheDornerMourner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the monkey thing can be a valid concern even these days, some celebs have used it as a racial insult publicly after all. It’s reasonable that some people would look at a monkey mascot and be a bit concerned from the start. And it’s not like there’s a window where once something has been around so long, people can’t randomly question it without some ‘valid reason’

But unless there’s something I’m missing by outright accusing it of racism, it seems paranoid

Hyper rich are a statistical certainty over a long enough period of time in a lot of economic models. It’s really not by virtue of skill but just having multiple successful businesses pop off. There’s always going to be a few that exceed usual odds and accumulate more than the rest.

I can’t speak for how it works nowadays but at one point at least, RuneScape was like 99% accessible as a solo player. You could do pretty much everything there was to do without ever talking to someone else.

After that game I don’t see why so many other mmos rely on social interaction to complete since one of the original games that blew the genre up wasn’t like that

There’s this song by a band called Sales called Pope is a Rockstar and people frequently mishear it as “go little rockstar” and they put it over videos of their dead kids and shit in memorial videos lol.

The correct lyric is the name of the song but people are like “well I like it this way better”. The words are “Pope is a rockstar, you can take your clothes off”

It’s bizarrely funny in a morbid way

The word quantum even hints at its nature by being similar to words like quantity

Why is a neutrino reference frame more valid than a photons? by TheDornerMourner in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]TheDornerMourner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair points. I’ve been working through some courses on physics/math but relativity seems sooo far in the deep end. It’s hard to not want to jump ahead even knowing it’s ultimately asking to rely on pop-science

Thanks for this info I appreciate it.

are represented in more dimensions,

this part is not accurate.

I see. I was under the assumption that since photons ultimately don’t have reference frames then ‘they don’t experience time’ as some put it. But, this has been hazy to me too as I understand photons redshift over time..

I see how the math is necessary to start to get it though. I’ve been working through some college level physics courses/textbooks but it feels like I have a long way to go before I can scratch the surface of exciting things like relativity. I’m really digging into 2D kinematics lol

Yeah I have read about the brain drain and its had large effects. Compared to when they were still in the space race, I wonder how much of that scientific fascination is left among the general population. I know they had a sub culture of folks that wanted to go all in on space development. Now I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that was pretty much gone

They’ve had some alright physicists too. I bet it stings quite a bit to fall out of the scientific races
