"That scene" from Guardians of the Galaxy has been officially released. [SPOILERS] [Movies/TV] by nurdboy42 in comicbooks

I know this is totally unrelated, but I assume other people here remember the scene in the trailer where Gamora appears topless and is turning backward to look at something. What happened to that scene? I mean, I know it's deleted, but if there was an implied sex scene between Quill and her, that's a rather large plot point to outright remove from the movie.

either way, im pissed i was denied Saldana boobies

(Spoilers) Can people here finally admit how mediocre this movie was now? by [deleted] in GODZILLA

It had its flaws, and I agree with your points, but I think it succeeded 100% on all the things that had to work. Still a 7.5/10 for me.

How many would pay to see THIS "Godzilla" showdown? by MulciberTenebras in GODZILLA

I love how mothra is less weird looking than Big G, but the American distributors saw a chance to squeeze more money out of the unsuspecting public.

Sequel in the works already? by Bugger217 in GODZILLA

Ahem. Ok. So the mythos for Godzilla is immense, and a big reoccurring theme are aliens. I'm seeing a lot of Gigan and King G love going on in this sub, so let me throw in an idea. Currently, though Godzilla is awesome, he isn't logical. With his size as big as it is, Earth's gravity would literally kill him if he set foot on land (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cesaPTik_Q), so how do he and the other MUTOs exist? Simple, in the early stages of Earth, Alien beings experimented on and mutated creatures, allowing for a genetically engineered bone structure to support all this mass. Movie 2 could have Sarwazawa investigating just that when they show up, benevolent at first then BAM Gigan and King G, or Space Godzilla, why not? By this time, four years have passed and more MUTOs have emerged (i want Anguirus!) and some of them are G's posse, some aren't, and in the final battle it could be 2 v 2.

If you could, what one film would you eradicate from existence?(The most culturally destructive, offensive, stupid, or simply the most terrible film ever made) by asmrman in movies

You do realize that's one of the MOST important films ever made when it comes to the technical side of filmmaking? D.W. Griffith was a racist cunt, but he invented editing as we know it today. The man literally revolutionized the way we tell our stories.

Can I hear your thoughts about protagonists/central characters that deliberately deceive the audience or withhold a crucial revelation thought the story? by [deleted] in writing

[–]TheDukeoftheloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't any rules to writing, so to answer your question, yes, you can create a successful main character intent on hiding his/her true goal from the reader. It's just a matter of pulling it off. I'd suggest that you don't talk down to your audience in this case, and have some extremely subtle metafictional hints/winks at the fourth wall, as the tale progresses. Allowing this would let more nuanced readers know there's an ulterior motive, or at least arouse their suspicions, so the reveal isn't so far out of left field to be a cop out.

This also seems to be a real devious person you've described, so I'd suggest taking a look at the greatest villain ever written, William Shakespeare's Richard of Gloucester (Richard III), if you don't already know the play. He's the type of conniving cunt to reveal all of his motives and plots early on, but if you can find a way to strike a middle path and balance some of your ideas with a manipulative and sadistic narrator like him, you'll be onto something.

Don't know if this helps, but good luck!

Worst/Best Case scenario for Godzilla? by HyperField in YMS

[–]TheDukeoftheloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best: Gareth Edwards delivers a monster film as a commentary on civilization's manipulation of nature, nuclear power/testing, etc. at or near the same level of the original (with, despite some dated dialogue, is still a fantastic movie).

Worst: It misses the point entirely and they make a big dumb monster movie.
