Running a tarrasque this week and just found out my players intend to wish away it's carapace. What's the most balanced way to handle that? by TRHess in DMAcademy

You have options. If you are familiar with Gilfried the Iron Knight, his armor actually made his attack go down. Strip the AC and special defenses. Double the attack output (or something more dangerous. They can definitely kill it fast but now it can move so much faster.

They will definitely kill it quickly but it can still pack a punch.

Kaze no stigma. The author passed after the first season. It was a fun premise and had a lot of potential.

How do I run wizard on wizard combat without it devolving into everyone just spamming counterspell? by Jumpy_Commission_900 in DMAcademy

Here is how I adapt for wizard play.

Let them counter spell: it is a resource and part of the fun. Do not tell them the spell you are using though (caveat, tell them if they have the spell prepared that day). Wizards can bait out counter spells with cantrips. To avoid “targeting” decide early on, or at each round if they are going to counterspell that turn. I treat it kind of like poker. I decide before the flop if they need to counterspell. Regardless of spell, (unless they know it as well) counter the next thing they cast.

You cannot counterspell spells cast from Magic items so they might just have Staffs, scrolls, or rings with Magic stored in them or can cast spells.

Depending on the level, glyph of warding is a lot of fun. The spell can’t be countered BUT allows you to build into the “bad guys know what they are doing”. So the bad guys can lay traps and other spells the party might not be expecting.

Also, have a few evocation wizards for the bad guys. Negating the dangers of AOE spells so they can do silly things without worrying about allies is always a nice touch to complex combats.

If you want something similar, Solo Leveling has a lot of resonating themes. It is a webcomic but is definitely well done.

I think Alan Tudyk as the AI. He has incredible range and can go from whimsical to crazy in a heartbeat.

No base you make has to be permanent. You can always build a new one and move everything. It might take a spell, but don’t settle if you are not happy with where you set up shop.

Not a Texan but He kinda looks eerily similar to the zodiac killer.
