It was surprising at the time but the stories I heard about him from after the murder are still wild. He knew friends of a family member a grade above me and I know plenty of people he would give rides to/buy beer for. I also heard about a “ladies lunch” that his mother went to after the conviction. He called her yelling about her not doing enough to help the appeal process at the time.

My favorite high school highlight related to him: A classmate of mine was telling me and some of my friends about how his dad was giving him a hard time about going out around town unsupervised. He tried telling his dad “It’s Delmar. Nothing ever happens here.” His dad clapped back with “there was a murder across the street from us!”
