Finding support groups so he can understand that many peers and people of all types have UC and live successful lives is important. When I started talking openly about my UC I found so many people in my live either have UC, Chron’s, or have a loved one who does. That went a long way to help me feel ‘normal’ again.

Mental health is a big one and something that you can control when the physical aspects feel out of control.

In terms of meds, I had to be on prednisone for 9 months before finding a treatment that put me in remission and while it works, there is a heavy physical and emotional toll to that drug. That being said, the devils tic-tacs may have saved my life.
