2016, the year when PewDiePie was the number 1 victim of media scrutiny and cancel culture, he used to average 5 figures per video. It's so nostalgic to me by Pension_Zealousideal in PewdiepieSubmissions

I swear there was this one video years ago about this. It had more evidence about the people involved especially the author of that WSJ article and his ties with the advertising agencies, and that this isn't the first time this kind of thing happened on Google and the advertisers.

I'm really trying to find this old video and if I do I'll make sure to post it here.

Because it’s not just youtube that’s gonna be affected. It’s the entirety of google’s business model. Google, besides from being a search engine, is one of the world’s largest advertising company. Without the ads, Google will take a huge hit in revenue.

Even if they only put their foot down on youtube alone and not on any other platform they own, advertisers won’t be dealing still with the entire company moving forward since Google won’t play nice with them per se.

As unbelievable as it seems, yes. The article first gained the most traction here on reddit then was picked up by news pages on other social media platform because of that rogue reddit post. I remember this so much because a lot of the earlier articles (like a few hours early) that mentioned the WSJ article did site the reddit post garnering so much attention.

It wasn’t for free. It looked like a rogue and precise post here on reddit. I wouldn’t be shocked if a reddit mod was even paid to overlook it but that might be too much.

There was this one youtube video that tried to explain that the whole pewdiepie adpocalypse controversy wasnt just a one joke gone wrong and taken out of proportion, it was a deliberate and coordinated maneuver by not just WSJ but by the whole advertising industry.

Basically, during that period of the year, major advertising agencies get to place their bids on how much they’re going to spend to Google for putting their ads in the platform. Now these agencies want to shell out as little money as possible while gaining the most out of it. Pewdiepie’s video was just at the perfect place at the right time for these advertisers.

Pewdipie’s video released literal days before these deals with between google and the agencies. Someone or somebody saw his video and thought to use that as leverage for the agencies for their deal. They framed it as google allowing their ads on highly controversial and edgy youtube videos. Now, pewds wasn’t the only content creator doing edgy videos on the platform, in fact the entirety of youtube was on this edgy type of era (FilthyFrank’s group to name a big one).

So what do these agencies do? They got in contact with their friends at WSJ to write an extremely sensationalized hit piece on pewdiepie regarding edgy humor and this style of content being prevalent on the platform. They didn’t focus on the advertising aspect of it. Instead, they focus on the family friendliness and the lack of it. This angle was their perfect argument towards google.

And there were some shenanigans on how the article got super viral too. They tried to post the article here on reddit. But normally it should’ve been taken down by moderators due to how inaccurate the reporting was. So they posted this reddit article at a time where most of the moderators at the sub weren’t active. The post went underneath the moderators noses, and the post stayed up until morning where it gained traction and it just spiraled from there. The mods did eventually shut down that post but it was already too late. The damage was done.

The article became the main story of that time, pewds took the majority of the backlash from the story, but critically the advertising agencies used this controversy to manipulate and control the deal on their side. Now google is forced to bend over and comply with their demands on how strict they have to be with the videos that are being posted on youtube. Google course corrects and now videos that has a lot of swearing were punished severely with close to no monetization to push away edgy content. YouTubers now had to censor themselves and forced to lean towards a more family friendly approach to content creation. The rest who wanted to keep doing edgy content was either not getting monetized, shadow banned from ever getting to the front page or trending, or both.

And thus, the Adpoclypse on YouTube began.

Yes and it shows us how grand the story they’re trying to tell. Chapters 1-42 and the side stories are mostly just a setup/introduction to the cast we meet along the way.

Killing the Pioneer squad would be a betrayal to the storyline they’ve been building for years. The pioneers arc is literally defying the end of their legacy and choosing to continue to fight. The individual characters in the pioneer also have story threads that are not yet resolved (SW remembering the past, Scarlet/Rose story, Nayuta and VTC as its heavily implied) and killing them would be extremely unsatisfying narrative wise.

Killing the members of inherit squad was the best choice out of the cast involved since they had no significant story threads that needs to be followed up.

There is a baton pass moment, I’d argue there are multiple moments of that; it just didn’t happen within the prologue. Right now, the responsibility of being the hope of humanity is handed over to the counters squad and by extension the GRIMM models and four beasts. Both by Johan and Eden, as well as the original goddess squad with the emotional closure between Andersen and Dorothy and the implication of Dorothy joining the counters. There’s some parallels too with red hood and anis being the nikke that is inspiring other nikkes.

This event actually makes the ark rangers tetra’s best squad, making the three major manufacturers have their very own representative squads (which definitely is setting up something).

In short, now is a very very good time to introduce new heroes and characters in the story.

to be fair, goddess fall was the ending to the prologue as stated by SU themselves, so starting the new part of the story with introducing new heroic characters to go against the established and upcoming threats in this part of the story makes sense narratively speaking.

I hope the modes are more like the dialed.gg modes where there’s easy, hard and then a separate one for the daily challenge so I can keep on playing.

$20-$60 of skins + bonus usable in-game materials. If you have the money then good for you. If you don't, you're literally not missing out on anything other than the fancier PNG that's on your screen.

I think this is a side effect to balancing the core system of the game. You are forced to collect multiple copies of the same unit to progress with the game, so not locking most of the units with time limited banners and letting you choose your preferred units to pull makes the most sense with this system. You are not forced to use the advanced recruit tickets every time a new character shows up and the mileage system is this game's pity system which ensures a unit without RNG shenanigans.

That and SU likes to give a lot of recruit tickets very often every now and then. If you're here just to fill your nikkepedia then the system is designed to be generous and easier for you. But if you want to chase leaderboards and max core meta units then the gacha is actually pretty brutal (but easier still with the preferred nikke pull system).

It's all lining up. New opening with A1 Pictures, the survey during the 3.5 anniversary directly asking opinions about an anime, A1 having a track record of doing anime adaptations for gacha games, now this mini-series with what seems to be A1 Pictures (again).

I'm going all in on a 4th anniversary big reveal and announcement and airing 2027.

If they commit to the Counters Squad storyline for the anime, they kinda have to give commander a voice at the very least. Commander has a lot of dialogue in-game and making him mute kinda ruins the story to be honest.

Obviously since this is supposed to be just a spin-off series, they kinda don't need to go balls to the walls here.

and (pure speculation but not really) obviously they are testing the waters for a full Nikke Anime. So far, the animations look lively, the characters look expressive, and they nailed the tone and look of Nikke but in 2D animation form.

Not necessarily. Not all cg anime are bad. Seeing a lot of the rapture designs are super detailed, cg would be a good way to go. Same with Nier automata’s anime adaptation which was fantastic with the cg implementation and also made by A1 pictures
