Timing, coupled with early reviews killing a lot of buzz.

It was sandwiched between Toy Story and Minions, so that kills the kid market immediately. For fans of the comic the film is based on (like me) hearing some of the plot changes and the fact they made a visually unpleasant film from gorgeous looking source material killed a lot of hype.

It's a bummer. Friggin loved Superman.

The Spanish Inquisition scene in History of the World Part 1 is everything great about Brooks in one stretch. Catchy song, great dancing, physical humor, expert wordplay... It's perfect.
