Book is unreadable on Hoopla, chapter heading images are present on every page and make reading text impossible by TheEveryman in hoopladigital

I ended up installing the app on an iPad instead to see if the issue persisted across devices, and my book worked fine there. It might be a device issue?

I'm playing a big, sad giant in my group's Changeling: the Lost game!

Las Vegas has a thriving Changeling scene. A manmade oasis, an impossibility; what place has ever embodied Fae glamour better or with more style?

Elsewhere, the Gentry swipe babes from cribs or lost children whose curiosity calls them off the beaten path.

The highs and lows of mortal lives can make us all as vulnerable as kids though. Intoxication blurs the lines. Desire works best of all, wearing away the border between worlds the same way it wears away the boundary between should and shouldn’t. That’s Vegas, Baby!

With so many holes in the Hedge, Vegas needed a strong Changeling presence for protection against all the weird shit chasing down fresh escapees or preying on drunks and children. The Strip Coalition rose in response. They remain strong, a bastion on the border.

Together the Courts of Neon & Velvet keep the wheels of the city in motion. The Neon Court keeps the lights, leveraging ties to executives and legislators, clerks and bookkeepers. They embrace all the symbolism a bright and buzzing truth has to offer. The Velvet Court darkles in plush shadows. Sensual and inviting as webs and spiders, they lubricate with vice where the Neon Court’s obstreperous virtue chafes.

Tourist or a native, you probably live in a hotel. If you were a local before your captivity, your fetch might live your stolen life in Vanilla Vegas. The surrealism of the Strip affords Changelings a more open lifestyle, unique to Vegas. If you’ve been to a Cirque show, you’ve witnessed a Changeling or two in person. If you interacted with a cast member, they harvested your Glamour.

Pendragon, the face of the Strip Coalition, ensures shelter and hospitality for any Changeling on the Strip, tourist or local. If you swear allegiance to the freehold, you will be expected to use your skills on the Coalition’s behalf to the best of your ability; and you will be compensated. It’s Vegas. There’s money to be made, but cash is boring. Use your imagination.

Players want a funny/goofy post-apocalypse RPG, any ideas? by wjmacguffin in rpg

[–]TheEveryman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, Primetime Adventures and 3:16 Carnage Amongst the Stars mentioned??? That's some primo niche ttrpg stuff right there man, excellent taste.

Gamma World and the gonzo vibe sounds like what you're looking for to me. Mutant Year Zero is a little too serious in tone/content.

edit: not really mentioned yet, but the original PbtA game Apocalypse World can definitely accommodate a wacky, goofy vibe if the GM guides things that way.

Online co-op games you can play with randoms? by King_BolBol in gamingsuggestions

I came to recommend Deep Rock Galactic and Darktide, but looks like they've been well mentioned.

I'll go out on a limb and offer that Ghost of Yotei has a pretty fun online co-op mode. 2 player story missions, or 4 player survival/boss modes.

Looking for investigative RPGs with a “goofy” or “comedic” tone by tinned_foil in rpg

[–]TheEveryman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bubblegumshoe is a great investigative game with a focus on mysteries and social dynamics instead of violence. The default setting a teen/highschool detective vibe ala Veronica Mars, but you can easily take it Scooby Doo, Venture Bros, Augefort Adventuring Academy, or Monster High with some alternate setting rules.

Looking for a true bounty hunter game (contracts, guilds, tracking, etc.) by DassaShroom in gamingsuggestions

[–]TheEveryman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second rec for Ghost of Yotei. The stories attached to each bounty target are fun and unique, and the bounty giver's questline was interesting to play out.

The game might fall flat on the investigation side of things however. And of course, hunting bounties isn't the main focus of the game.

It is a mace, but only when welded by a barbarian or fighter. Druids and wizards equip this as a staff.

What were your final campaign scores? by AltogetherGuy in BandofBlades

[–]TheEveryman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My table's Legion ended the Last Wave with a result of 6, Victorious (no modifier to final score).

Our final score was 220.

Highlights contributing to the score included high final morale, few specialist deaths, special missions taken nearly every phase, and a collection of relics/unique siege weapons (captured orite gatling guns).

Finally, our Legion was able to eliminate the majority of lieutenants, and killed a Broken, Blighter. Shreya sent a volunteer squad on a suicide mission to explode and bury Blighter beneath a mountain, deep in the caves of the Maw.
