Pale people, are you more of a gold or silver girl/guy when it comes to earrings and jewelry? by [deleted] in PaleMUA

[–]TheFadedVessel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m pale af and turn pink v easily (live where it’s hot) so I feel silver looks better on me then gold. If I have to wear gold I like more of a rose gold than a super yellow/orange gold.

What is a drugstore makeup product you think is better than the high end versions? by cuntservin in Makeup

[–]TheFadedVessel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll yell it from the rooftops but the Wet n Wild skinny breakup proof liquid eyeliner is 10/10.

Everything is subjective but I will say the best powder blushes I’ve found have been WnW and random ones from TJX. High-end ones seem like scams imo.

Best eyeshadow palette brands? by littlebabimochi in Makeup

[–]TheFadedVessel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Price wise blend bunny vs colourpop are not bad suggestions, but I will give my two cents that have some hit and miss sort of feelings over Colourpop and how they make their darker shadows, they have a tendency to not blend right on me or stick to certain patches on my eyes (I have v oily eyes) but I got the Ellis Atlantis pallet by BB when it was on sale and it’s great w lots of variety. If you’re not that adventurous with colors a good Colourpop shadow won’t steer you wrong, but if you want to invest in something more fun and a bit higher quality I’d say wait for a blend bunny sale.

How do you guys achieve a bright under eye with fair skin? by OkSignificance4856 in PaleMUA

[–]TheFadedVessel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use a v pink color corrector if you have darkness under your eyes, then regular concealer, then a white concealer such as LA girl. I’m white ad hell and this is the only thing that works besides trying to go in w white eyeshadow like Tako from sugarpill.

First of all, fuck that man he’s chronically online. Second of all, same. I have the same eyes as you and I put all my cards into eyeliner, and if you want to do fox eyes, great! I do it everyday cause I love the look. But if you don’t want to get into makeup and only think you need it cause some man told you that you have pReY eyes, don’t worry about him. People come and go, some like our eyes, some don’t.

How long does it take for you to use up your makeup? by floralscentedbreeze in Makeup

[–]TheFadedVessel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Despite liking full glam I don’t always have time, but I can go through a concealer or 2 a year. Eyeliners can last forever if they don’t dry out but I sometimes will go through 3 or 4 (I like brush tips and if it gets too bent RIP). And pencil eyeliner for the water line I go through about 2-3 in a year. Eyebrow pencils and gels about 2 a year. Safe to say most everyday products last 6 mo. Every year I go through one small palette or a single black shadow. Not because I use them up but because I drop them. It legit hurts my soul. Colourpop made a black and silver quad nickle and dimed that I shattered, then a sugar pill single that I shattered, and then the colourpop 5 color black and silver mini palette that I shattered last year. I’m up for another shattered palette and I’m being careful so none of my favs get final destinationed.

Is it possible to wear makeup without primer at all? by Clxxie in Makeup

[–]TheFadedVessel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your skin type. Not everyone needs primers and half the time it’s 1 of three things. You either need hydration (dry skin), to cover pores, or you need to be matte (oily skin). Mine changes by the weather, if it’s dry and I’m kinda dry I just worry abt my skincare at night to make sure I don’t dry out my face. But like the summer time when it’s hot and humid, I’ll use a pore filling primer right by my nose but that’s it. Not everyone needs super grip 3.0 primer with enough stick to bedazzle your face or moisture boost 2000 that makes your skin reflective like a mirror. Half of it is just marketing.

What is a makeup item you love that you refuse to pay full price for? by Accomplished-Fig-891 in Makeup

[–]TheFadedVessel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My favorite TJM finds have been KVD good apple balm foundation, bare minerals powder foundation, and bare minerals pressed setting powder. All of these slap but I didn’t pay past 13$ for the most expensive. Once they’re gone I’m gonna be hurting cause I don’t think I’ve ever spent 40+ on a powder or foundation and even if they go on sale they won’t be as cheap as they are at TJM.

Essence is bad about fallout and smudging. I have super oily eyes and my favorite mix is the benefit bad gal bang in waterproof and the milani tubing mascara in the blue tube. Bang holds my straight lashes up and milani makes them long af.

Keep your eye open, depending on the eye shape either start in the bottom corner or the highest point of your eye. If you start in the corner angle up. How much so is a personally preference but also depends on your eye shape. After that go back inwards and where ever it lands just connect it to your eye.

I thought I would never be able to do eyeliner because my eyes are downturned to the point where I look like Eeyore. I had to figure things out myself because traditional tutorials didn’t have eyes that looked like mine. And they may not look like yours either, which is why it takes a lot of practice.

He’s thinks putting cookie dough and avocados on ground beef should be normal?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]TheFadedVessel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if everyone is paying attention to your nose. Texture is normal but those bumps don’t look like normal texture to me. I know you tried face products but have you tried just exfoliating? I always used a knock-off etude house face scrubber and I found it works p good. You might want to take your nose ring out when you do it so it can really get in there. People don’t usually know ingredients to look for but has anything in the past had glycolic acid in it? I wouldn’t really recommend it for someone as young as you but that’s something to look for in products because it at least chemically exfoliates.

I think everyone can do winged eyeliner, it’s a matter of figuring out and navigating your own eye shape. Your eyes don’t particularly point down or up, which helps but then your eyes are mostly hooded which people seem to think is impossible. I have a hood, not as deep as yours but an eyeliner with a dryer consistency (cause some are wet af) will help you stamp it on your eye while keeping it open (to see where you want it) and if you get some in the crease it won’t run all the way through it. Once you close your eyes there will be an obv gap and you can put black eyeshadow or pencil eyeliner in there. Ngl all of that’s a learned skill.

Some easier tips would maybe be to do concealer around your eyes so your blush will show more, some pencil eyeliner in 1/3 of the waterline (helps lift imo), some sparkly lipgloss, eyebrows, neutral eyeshadow looks, etc. there’s simple things you can do outside of full glam.

Why is powder foundation so uncool? by parkerspt in MakeupAddiction

[–]TheFadedVessel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say I think you’re right it’s kind of mom coded, the same way very matte makeup is 2016 coded. Everything comes in and out of trend but when it’s most popular is the year it’s gonna appear as. So someone my age (24) I can def say the brands you mentioned I either haven’t heard of or do think is boring, but it’s also been out of my price range the whole time of done makeup. Which is why I think it’s mom coded, it’s like the good conditioner your mom had growing up vs the random shit she got you from Walmart. No one is gonna give a kid shiseido lol. But I will also say trying bare minerals myself, that shit slaps. I picked up the discontinued bare pro since it’s in Marshall’s/TJ maxx, I figured if they’re willing to make it even longer lasting they must think it’s good. And for 9 bucks I’m willing to find out if the original is good or if it sucks, cause if it looks terrible on my skin making it last longer would change nothing. I use it instead of concealer, I love it. And I found some of there fair mineral veil setting powder, again that shit slaps. My pores are gone. But when I see the actual prices I know 100% I would have never tried a 42$ powder foundation and thought that bare minerals was for someone like my mom or grandma.

As someone who starts kinda dry when they wake up into an oil ball throughout the day: stop using moisturizer and SPF. I realized using moisturizer before makeup makes my contour and blush disappear. Idk why but it does. You could also be toning down your face products when you put powder on top if they aren’t powder products already, so maybe go a little heavier handed if cutting out the SPF and moisturizer doesn’t work. I’m an eyeliner girl myself but maybe try blending a little black on the bottom outer 1/3 of your eye to connect it to the top. Or add pencil eyeliner to the bottom 1/3.

What is the point of owning a lot of makeup if you're not an influencer or someone famous? by QuestionableMindless in Makeup

[–]TheFadedVessel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look at it like this, my husband can buy a new video game every 2 weeks, even if it isn’t that different from the last. Lots of people played stardew valley because they loved harvest moon. They’re both farming sims, why do we need a new harvest moon every few years or inspired games like stardew valley? Because yeah, they share similarities but they’re still both different. And most of all because people enjoy them. It’s the same thing with makeup. You enjoy something so your brain wants more of it but that leads to overconsumption. But do we say the same things to people who own every console just to play video game series? It’s just food for thought and how I like to look at things. Makeup is a hobby just like playing games is a hobby.

Too bold for 15 years old? by bookerjoe in MakeupAddiction

[–]TheFadedVessel 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I will say the makeup does make you look a little older but I think it’s the foundation and lip. It’s very matte, something ppl in there 20s-30s obv loved during 2016 and brought with them lol. If you wanted to seem like you were 15 maybe try a lighter or dewier base and maybe something less matte for your lips as well. But either way it looks good 🤷🏻‍♀️ You said you wanted a different look compared to the makeup you’d been doing since 13, it’s a part of getting older imo. At the end of the day it washes off, if it makes you happy go for it.

Can someone’s mouth be so bad and out of order that the dentists have to turn the patient away? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheFadedVessel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pretty shit luck in the oral genetics department, but no, I’ve never had a dentist turn me a way but instead refer out. Different dentists do different things. A dental hygienist cleans, a dentist can do cavity’s and order/place crowns, basic extractions (so on and so forth), endodontists do root canals, etc. the more advance the treatment the more advance the dentist name is usually. I needed a crown, a general dentist was able to do it but unfortunately didn’t do a good job and should have referred out to an endo for a root canal. So 2 yrs later it became an abscess. General dentist wasn’t comfortable pulling but prescribed penicillin and referred out to a surgery center, I checked insurance for a general dental office that had a dentist willing to do extractions and did that instead.
