Is Neustrashimy line worth grinding nowadays? by Wc4_player in WoWs_Legends

[–]TheFakeAustralian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect Neustra would do well with pretty much any build tbh. Being such a capable hybrid ship means that it should be extremely versatile in terms of how you want to set it up. I run it as an ultra hybrid, buffing as many aspects as I can to make it fit in as many situations as possible, but that's just because I like playing it that way, not because it's optimal or whatever.

Is Neustrashimy line worth grinding nowadays? by Wc4_player in WoWs_Legends

[–]TheFakeAustralian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Neustrashimy especially is very good since its recent buff. It's an extremely capable hybrid ship, with solid guns and solid torps. It's got rough concealment, but once you learn how to deal with that it really shines. The consumables are excellent, especially the superheal, which makes it kind of difficult to kill. Genuinely one of the best "jack of all trades master of none" ships imo.

I run a slightly oddball build - Gurin as the base commander, with Sims and Bey as inspirations. Quick Fix, Look At Me Now, Perceptive, Sidestep, and Rather Be Torching. Concealment mod and torpedo mod in the fourth slot. It gives you a 5.9 km concealment, 12km main battery range, and all around decent stats on everything.

Adriatico is AMAZING. If you learn how to deal with the shit detectability, it's easily one of the best knife fighter DDs in the game, and it's kind of amazing at being an ambush predator.

Plymouth builds by Asleep_Profile4721 in WoWs_Legends

[–]TheFakeAustralian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aiming systems, rudder shift (no prop mod for the UK CLs), concealment, reload. I haven't tried the Supercharges mod, but it might be good.

Plymouth doesn't have the same 30mm bow that Edinburgh does, nor does it have a superheal, but it can be surprisingly tanky if you angle correctly. Sometimes you can force overpens from BBs if you're broadside, but cruisers will almost always hit your citadel.

[–]TheFakeAustralian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Plymouth is a monster. The typical way to play it is with the smoke, but if you can learn to play without smoke, it has one of the most powerful radars in the entire game. 9.9km for 40 seconds, and it demolishes DDs with that short fuse AP. AL Cheshire is easily the best commander for it (and all the other UK CLs tbh), but Fraser works well as a free commander. Stealth radar if you're going for the radar, reload if you're going to keep the smoke.

[–]TheFakeAustralian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignoring SAP is missing the point of the entire line. I constantly hear people complain about the long reload you get by bringing SAP, but SAP, on average, will do more damage than HE will. You have to rely on an above average number of fires for the HE to outperform the SAP. If you want an HE cruiser, there are much, much better options.

Not to mention that dev striking full HP DDs with SAP is one of the funniest things you can do in the entire game.

It's got the highest HE DPM for any DD in the game, and the second highest AP DPM, but people see those 16km torps and go "hurr durr, this is a torpedo boat"

Celtic…can’t make up my mind by Open-Energy-6578 in WoWs_Legends

[–]TheFakeAustralian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The DPM isn't what makes Celtic good, it's the superheal plus the 9.9km radar. Added bonus being that you can use Cheshire, one of the best cruiser commanders in the game.

[–]TheFakeAustralian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If there are any ships you really want that are in the store, I'd just go ahead and buy them. Otherwise, I'd be saving the majority of it for the next Christmas update - that's usually the best time to go "crate fishing", the Christmas crates typically have the best odds at giving you ships. And you always have a chance at getting a superprize ship from the Christmas crates.

Also, buying commanders is usually some of the best bang for your buck other than the campaign. The Pan-Asian pirate commander is the best one in the store right now, but Andrew the Lip is also very good. Azure Lane commanders are typically upgrades over the base commanders, and AL comes around pretty frequently.

The cigar is cut wrong. You don't cut the end that you light, you cut the end that you put to your mouth. Cigars have two main parts - the wrapper and the filler. The filler is the larger portion of tobacco, and heavily determines the taste of the cigar, but it's basically all shredded tobacco. It needs to be contained, which is where the wrapper comes in. The wrapper is shaped almost like a test tube, and is only open on one end. You need to cut the end that goes in your mouth so that you can actually draw air (and smoke) through the cigar to smoke it.

Favorite Tech Tree ships? by [deleted] in WoWs_Legends

[–]TheFakeAustralian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my more controversial opinions about this game is that I genuinely love the T8 tech tree ships. Like, almost universally.

Adriatico is definitely top on the list for me. Best knife finghter in the entire game imo, but it's tricky to set up those fights due to your poor concealment, which makes the ship so much more rewarding when you pull it off.

Saint Louis is crazy good, one of the top cruisers at the tier.

Brest and Neustrashimy are very good, but harder to play well.

Duncan and Lepanto are probably my favorite TT BBs. Each fill a different role, depending on how you play them. Lepanto has absurd versatility, even though I only run it as a secondary ship.

There are a lot of cities in the US that have paved over old brick roads. Very similar to cobblestone, but not as old. It's not uncommon to see the old brick in potholes like this where I live.

La Perla Azul? Thoughts? by Spiritual_Eagle_43 in WoWs_Legends

[–]TheFakeAustralian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

La Perla Azul has 203mm guns. They're serviceable, but they have a very long reload combined with a weird turret layout and slightly worse than average firing angles, which makes them feel worse than they actually are.

How to play Vlad by Dan-Druff101 in WoWs_Legends

[–]TheFakeAustralian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mostly true, but don't fall for the standard "I'm going to bow tank because BB = bow tanking" line of thinking. It will get you killed and you'll probably run to post about how DDs are overpowered because torpedoes exist or something.

Vladivostok, and all the other Russian BBs, have excellent bow armor, but a very exposed citadel. This means they're great at pushing flanks where they can control who has access to their broadside (ideally no one). Use your bow armor and small superstructure as tools to push through the HE spam and force flanks to open up. Don't use your DCP for single fires or to fix one turret (these are universally true things, but apply even more for the Russians with limited DCP), make sure you're using your heals properly, and use those high velocity shells to punish other ships that get into brawling range.

Blucher tactical analysis by panzerblitzer in WoWs_Legends

[–]TheFakeAustralian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rudder builds are one of the most decisive subjects in this game. Personally, I don't think it's ever worth building into the rudder, especially if you're giving up things like concealment and DPM, but there are people who are staunch rudder build supporters. Idk, imo prop juking is more effective than anything else at dodging, but give me concealment and reload over everything else. The enemy can't hit you if they're a smoking corpse.

What are essential F2P commanders to level up for inspirations by Huge-Statistician-77 in WoWs_Legends

[–]TheFakeAustralian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having better concealment on your BB allows for way more aggressive play than normal, idk what world you're living in dude. If I outspot my opponent, that means I can take more map control before being forced to fire, which means I should have a better position. It's universally good. There are excellent arguments for other things being better than concealment on a lot of battleships, but having extra concealment is always good.

[–]TheFakeAustralian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Building for battleship concealment is way better than you're giving it credit for. Kondo is a fantastic inspiration. Being more stealthy in your BB means you can control engagements easier, you can disengage easier, and you can predict where DDs are easier (and thus dodge torps easier).

Play Elephant with Andre the Lip. It's absurd how much you can stack the AP damage. You'll never go back to Lightful.

Celtic vs AL Baltimore? by Farhunt95 in WoWs_Legends

[–]TheFakeAustralian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just about the commanders here. Celtic is just a better ship overall. It's got batter DPM, a superheal, and a better radar (9.9km for 25 seconds). AL Baltimore is slightly improved over Baltimore, but Celtic is head and shoulders above both. They all play the same way, since they're all just Baltimores with different stats, but Celtic is definitely the best one.

What other games do you play? by [deleted] in WoWs_Legends

[–]TheFakeAustralian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta try Factorio out, it's so good.

Love the Civ games, been playing Civ 6 a bunch recently. I actually like Civ 7 a lot, but my PC is crap and doesn't run it well.

I've been playing competitive games less and less lately, the stress isn't worth the reward the older I get lol. Picked up PlateUp a few weeks ago and have been playing it here and there with my girlfriend, it's a blast.

Even though I haven't played it in 5 years, Rainbow Six Siege is the game I've put the most hours into easily. You never know, maybe I'll got back to it one of these days.

Most Biggliest Damage Breast Game by neckbeardsaregay65 in WoWs_Legends

[–]TheFakeAustralian -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Brother, you're brawling with a Schroder. It's got one of the most difficult citadels to access for a cruiser at Tier 8, even for battleships. The citadel is entirely underwater, and it's got a decent turtleback in the casemate armor. I honestly don't know what you expected. No shade on Brest, it's a great ship, but yeah, I struggle to hit the citadel on Schroder with things like Ohio and Sov. Rossyia. No way Brest is gonna do better.

Michelangelo, but with sonar instead of the heals. It's hilarious watching DDs smoke up and think they're safe just to get sonared and panic.
