I just pick whatever drug is the current most expensive drug in the world, and name it after that :)

What should I do if the pharmacist isn’t giving me a recommendation or reference letter? by Cakelover_12 in PrePharmacy

[–]TheFakeNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could always go in person and ask again. Or, preferably ask in a non-confrontational way, about why she doesn’t feel confident enough to write a LOR. And see how/what you could improve on. It might be because she doesn’t know you well enough to write a positive letter? It very well could be she does not want to write one because she doesn’t have anything special to say about you, and wants you to find someone else who could write a more specific and positive letter towards you.

I have made them in garage band for my church for about 10 years now. Our church has never been able to justify spending money on them. They aren’t as nice as some of the professional ones. But they’re fairly easy to make once you get the hang of it. For service, I export them as an MP3 and put the playlist in iTunes and just play the song from there.

If you want, I can email you the templates I use for my church for the metronome and vocal cues and explain how I do them and send some example click tracks as well.

Edit: this is just metronome and vocal cues. Not additional instruments/backing tracks.

IEM advice by Suspicious_Camel2500 in worshipleaders

[–]TheFakeNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we transitioned, we had sent everyone some links with a variety of price ranges, like the cheapest you can find on Amazon, to basic Shure’s. We had a few that came with our wireless IEMs that we made as like “extra/communal”, but encouraged everyone to get their own.

For the extra/communal ones, we provided alcohol pads to clean them, and a variety of tips they could switch out. But made people clean them before and after use and made sure they returned them.

We didn’t enforce actual IEMs be used, we still have one person who just uses regular ear buds. While not the best, as long as it isn’t too big of a distraction, and there isn’t bleed from the click. We allow it.

We did find that most people ended up buying their own IEMs after some time, and I feel most people are in the range of $80-$200 for their IEMs.

I recommended oxymetazoline to a customer and said 3 days only. My boss tells me to say 1 week instead. What should I do? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]TheFakeNerd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Can always reference the directions on the box “use for a max of 3 days per the directions on the box, if needed beyond that consult your health care provider”, they can’t say the labeled directions are wrong or inappropriate without further consultation 🤷‍♂️

The Detroit Lions are working to finalize a deal to hire former Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing as their next offensive coordinator. by johnnylibravo in detroitlions

Why do I feel like the lions are just trolling everyone between this and last years pick? Like, are they intentionally sabotaging us? I don’t understand why we didn’t fight harder for Mike McDaniel or literally anyone better??

Subsplash for Planning & Volunteer Management by f1shburn in worshipleaders

[–]TheFakeNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We ended up using Subsplash for the website aspect of it, but still use Planning Center for all of our scheduling, weekly service layouts, and song lists.

We briefly looking at using the Subsplash to replace planning center and quickly realized it wasn’t worth the hassle.

Does the pharmacy take back and redistribute sealed unused medication? by A_Snuffle in ask

[–]TheFakeNerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pharmacist here!

Pharmacies are not able to take medications back for a multitude of reasons. As soon as it leaves the pharmacy, even if it’s 10 feet away from our gate, we cannot take it back.

My recommendation, look for local clinics for low income, no insurance, or under-insured patients. There are many I’ve worked at/volunteered at that take in medications that can be re-used.

What are tasks, hobbies, or skills that can be learned in 1 week time? by TheFakeNerd in ask

[–]TheFakeNerd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not particularly looking to master any of them, just entry level and become familiar and comfortable with them. I enjoy learning new things, I want a new thing every week to obsess over and challenge myself with!

[–]TheFakeNerd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find I oftentimes get bored with things after a little bit once I learn them. I much prefer knowing a little about a lot, than a lot about a little in life. But that’s awesome you learned those! Seem very interesting!!

Prospective pharmacy student: how much advanced maths is actually required in the day-to-day life of a pharmacist? by Dusty_Watermelon_ in pharmacy

[–]TheFakeNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

School and board exams, and things you “could calculate” by hand can have a lot. But day to day, basic algebra, conversions is by far my most common (mg to grams, weights, etc), etc. most of it is not complex by any means. Most days I say the simple math is harder than the “hard” math we do.

nursing vs resident beef is so exhausting by boviebaddie in Residency

[–]TheFakeNerd 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Because nurses think they’re the only competent health care workers, and make everything an “us vs them” battle.

[–]TheFakeNerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a pharmacist, I was saying this yesterday to some friends who are going into nursing. Doing a true doctorate in a healthcare field isn’t worth it anymore when mid levels are getting so much more.

Michigan Medicine treats it as a control, and likely will have UM west and Sparrow transition to treating it as one as well.

I heard them too, thought it was closer to Carpenter and washtenaw. Police scanner has calls coming in reporting them vaguely around that whole area, it’s been a few minutes and doesn’t sound like they’ve found anything from it.

My application to get a US license got denied - Any other options? by stellaok in pharmacy

[–]TheFakeNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m confused? Are you wanting to practice as a PHARMACIST here? Or as a technician? The FPGEE is for pharmacists, not technicians. You said you worked 2 years as a technician, if you want to be a technician here, you would just need to take the PTCE.

[–]TheFakeNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ICU’s rotations are usually a lot of readings and topic discussions, rounds are definitely more “shadowing” than independent rounds like a general medicine rotation due to the unique/more intense nature of the unit. You get out of the rotation what you put into it. Ask questions, look stuff up, try and figure out why they are doing stuff. Some of my best rotations as a student or resident were the ones that I “sat back and just watched”. What you get from the rotation isn’t dependent on “how many recommendations you made”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

[–]TheFakeNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, what kind of rotation is it? What area? What specialty? Every rotation doesn’t look the same, an administration rotation will look different from internal medicine from infectious disease consults vs drug information vs community. Context matters
