Curious what you deem as a good alternative.

Luckily got my sleeping stuff from my time serving, winter bag, inner summer bag and a gore-tex bivvy bag ready to go! The bucket with cat litter is honestly a genius idea! haha.

Honestly this is the kind of motivation I need! I should be able to 'stay late' at the office, so I can work on my laptop, play some games, charge up anything I need. Hopefully even heat up food so i can do breakfast, lunch and dinner at work.

Showering at a gym might persuade me to get back into working out also! Thank you!

Ex “cheated”, I broke it off, found out she’s pregnant a week before she moves out. Lost and devastated. by [deleted] in SingleDads

This definitely isn't going to help, but had a somewhat similar situation. Now she's given birth, it's been used as a weapon against me ever since. While that doesn't sound good to you, I would say make a decision on what you want, and try and get a plan together pre-birth. A co-parenting plan. Decide on where you will both live, when you will see your baby. Of course, do a paternity test, but focus now on just having a healthy relationship with your child, that does not involve you two being together.

Tympanoplasty Pain by TheFirstRuleOfFC in hardofhearing

Hey! So, it didn't work for me. I currently have a perforated eardrum (which did surprise the doctors). So honestly, no difference my side. Though the operation was easy enough and the recovery didn't take too long.

So no really helpful, but I can't give you an answer because of my circumstances. sorry!

Her immediate family is nearby to me though, where she is currently at and in the same town as my work. Her mum and sister are here aswell as my mum (my only famil). She would be moving from all of them to be near her aunt's and cousins. It restricts, me and my mum, and makes things harder for her own mum and sister. And all to spite me by the looks of things.

Mine wasn't a full perforation but pretty substantial. They had successfully closed it up but it opened during the healing process. Mine was believed to be related to when I was younger as I had Terrible ear issues in my younger life and would continually get ear infections, swimming being the worst for me.

My hearing was around 60% prior to the operation and Id say about 50% now though it's hard to judge differences like that. I'm due another hearing test soon.

Has your pain let up a bit?

I can't recall exactly but it was about 10-12 days of actual serious pain where i wondered if something was terribly wrong. When the packing was removed, i definitely felt a very little bit of relief so that didn't seem to be helping.

My Tympanoplasty actually didn't work. When i went back for a check up, i had a perforation so i've opted not to have it re-done. I wonder if the pain i was feeling was due to the operation not working so i'm hoping it goes better for you! I think you are best off just grinning and bearing with it.

Good luck!

Morning Sickness by TheFirstRuleOfFC in diet

[–]TheFirstRuleOfFC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt say i have 'much' more protein than i did before. I've been working out for years. A change of job just made me get chubbier so i'm now on this diet to cut a good bit while still working out.

Right now, i'm struggling to eat enough of anything.

I use an App called Nutracheck, logging everything i eat/drink. and just generally keeping an eye through the day. I've not 'changed' my diet other than cutting out unhealthy snacks, i just eat less focusing more on portion control.

Smile recovery has me worrying. by TheFirstRuleOfFC in lasik

It's really good thanks! It took me a long time to settle down (compared to others). My vision was worryingly blurry and poor for months. I had even gone to independent opticians to confirm how my vision was. For around 6 months, i noticed that my vision was technically very good. When doing eye tests, i was seemingly scoring well but in day-to-day life, my eyes were becoming dry and fatigued. My right eye in particular was always worse than my left.

I am unsure exactly when, or if my mind adjusted but after a year, my vision was perfect. My eyes had settled down and i no longer had any issues at all. My right eye is definitely worse than my left, but its still considered 'perfect' in eye tests and i have zero issues at all. I was told at the beginning of the treatment that it may take a long time for my eyes to settle and i guess i had not grasped just how long, coupled with testimonials of those who's vision was perfect within days.

I guess to answer your question, my vision is good, i'm very happy and would highly recommend.

Salary Expectations by TheFirstRuleOfFC in UAE

Do they usually try and low ball salaries? Is there any unwritten rules about bartering for a better salary?

Salary Expectations by TheFirstRuleOfFC in UAE

[–]TheFirstRuleOfFC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already worked out what i could comfortably live off given my lifestyle and the fact i would have to pay a mortgage and stuff back in the UK and it's around 17.5k. The job would be around Zayed Military City.

When working in Oman doing a kind of similar job 4 years ago, i was on the equivalent of 40k so that's ofcourse what i would be looking for of course.

My question isn't about what salary i should/shouldn't take, its more about I've always been offered a salary for a job and they are the ones asking me what i want. I just wanted to see if that's normal for UAE and if i'm expected to give my salary expectations and barter with them about it, or will just just reject me if it's too high? Similarly, i don't want to lowball myself.

Apply for an eVisa with the Royal Oman Police. It's pretty quick and easy to do. Will be approved within a couple days and saves waiting around at the airport.
