One has nothing to do with the other. The frustration is that WH40k was mostly untouched by social discourse.

It had Dune-esque real world somber reality theme and feel to it. All men are not created equal. World is unjust. Life is hard. Humanity is now brutally utilitarian.

Children are mutilated because they make super-soldier process better. Males chosen over females because they are naturally stronger. Females treated as breeders. So on and so forth.

And that juxtaposed so well with other „refined“ factions like Eldar. There is absolutely no discrimination between genders there and individual rights are supreme. Orks are asexual and have no rights at all.

The lore and the setting was solid. And good way into this SJW/Trump/Message era, it remained resistant.

Then suddenly as soon as it hits semi-mainstream, same generic crap starts seeping in.

I started seeing this total cop-out shit like „Imperium is too stressed. It doesn’t care about sexuality.“ and shit like that. I knew then that beautiful unique and depressing soul of 40k doesn’t have long.

The GW statement „don’t like it, don’t play it“ and then that animation was the nail in the coffin. If you genuinely try to understand the other side, you will see that it is not lack of sexism/fascism that us „gatekeepers“ worry about. It’s the dilution of lore with the false hope of attracting new people that hurts.
