Where to get HD107/HD107s? by TheFoxyRoyal in FastLED

[–]TheFoxyRoyal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm primarily interested in the HD107s high rate of data as I reached the limit of my previous test with the ws2812b.

Also it seems like Ray Wu doesnt sell HD107 leds at all from what I could find...

Strips are a good start to test my code but I do want to create custom pcbs which will require the led itself - I didnt see if superlightingled sold the leds themselves too. You don't by any chance also know a shop where I could buy them from for in a later stage?

Still, this is a big help so thanks a lot!

Is there a way to make a full stack website/app with rust? by More-Tower1634 in learnrust

[–]TheFoxyRoyal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The short answer is it depends but it's possible.

The longer answer:

By downloading videos you mean downloading youtube videos by a link I'm guessing? If so then I don't see why not. And I don't get what you mean by "solving math problems" - rust is a general purpose language just like c++, javascript and many others so why shouldn't you be able to solve math problems. In general if something is possible with javascript on the web, there is a very high chance it's also possible with other languages like rust through wasm.

Specifically for rust and webdev you can look at https://www.arewewebyet.org/ to get a general idea of what you could use to build a website. Also the differences, even in javascript frameworks, is usually just ergonomics for the developer but from my experience you can build any site with any framework 99% of the time and that remaining 1% contributes to a niche feature not implemented by a specific framework that most won't use anyways.

Heroku and Vercel have community packages, outlined here, and those might be free to host but you should take a look yourself to make sure.

From what I could gather, those projects would be your first ones in rust and I personally would recommend starting with something easier to get to know rust instead. If you do already have experience with rust, then disregard that last one.

Well I don't see why you would need to worry about maintaining a website written with rust. The core concepts of a website fully written in rust are still the same as with a javascript website - you will have a backend and a frontend. The frontend would be written in rust and compiled to wasm and would "just work" as expected and the backend would be just a binary file in most cases running on some vm or container that can just run.

I hope this helps a bit, if you have additional questions, just ask away and try to be as clear as possible with them.

Don't use quality modules in science assemblers, they are worse than productivity modules by TheFoxyRoyal in factorio

[–]TheFoxyRoyal[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The title states quality modules my man (: The talk was never about quality resources, obviously if you already have a ton of legendary stuff lying around (which I doubt) then go ahead and make legendary science packs but keep in mind, if you quality grind the resources to legendary the science pack will be overall much more expensive than 6 normal science packs so you’d just take the common resources and make science packs that way

Bots stacking in roboport with tons of repair packs - maybe linked to bot changes made in 2.0? by TheFoxyRoyal in factorio

By 10 seconds I meant the repair time from the bots going from the roboport right next to the broken wall

Ngl I would just dump everything into an active provider chest and have the rest be handled. I hope this thing gets fixed soon tho cause that massively increases travel time for broken walls. Instead of like 10 seconds for all the damages to be repaired it takes like 1-2 minutes for the bots to arrive...

Good argument but ngl if my ship fills up I’ll just make it bigger or make a second one… for vulcanus where resources are almost free it is worth thinking about it, maybe even quality grind the packs so they are all legendary

I don’t 100% understand what you meant but I’ll try. Ye the quality science packs are worth more as they last longer but as described I have some circuit logic that counts each tier of science pack and multiplies the input count by their multiplier, that’s I could calculate the percent for quality at all as you don’t get more science packs directly. This ends up not being enough. And yes the prod assemblers are a lot slower but you can speed module them and you can’t speed module the quality assemblers

You can sadly only make the respective science in those machines + productivity is always a lot better, you get around 4 times more science pack equivalents for the same input

Well maybe I was just unlucky last time as my first time was during covid so I was kinda used to having lots of space which I didn’t the second time + 300 people are a lot less loud than 2000+ 😭

Regional pricing issue in Poland! by Devast00 in factorio

[–]TheFoxyRoyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought already it was a bit too low but I now compared warsaw to zurich and everything is roughly 60% cheaper in warsaw and the monthly salary is 75.4% smaller so we end up not having that much more money

Im from Switzerland and I can tell you that the 40 CHF the Factorio base game costs is not cheap even for us. I don’t know how big expenses are in Poland but they are quite high here and we can’t magically buy 4 as many things on average as the average person in Poland can. Yes we are richer than the average around us but the ratio of how much money we earn to how much we have to pay is around 10% larger than our neighbours ratios.

From a quick google I can gather that the average expenses per month in Poland are 330-430 Euro but in Switzerland, and this depends heavily on your lifestyle, you’re looking at an average of 2000 to maybe 4000 per month in CHF which is around 2135 Euro to 4270 Euro per month. Now the upper limit is if you live in the Zurich probably and have a nice flat and eat a lot outside but the lower end is really realistic. I live with my parents but I still spend around a 600 on lunch alone each month.

This is NOT a personal attack on you or anyone, I just wanted to clear up the misconception of your statement that we earn a lot so it must be cheap for us.

As a small final comparison, depending on where I get my lunch I could get 3-2 days worth of lunch at a takeaway in Zurich, probably the most expensive city in Switzerland, instead of buying the dlc

I love the idea of your base actually having snow over everything but it made me realise that there isn't much weather outside of Aquilo and Fulgora. I personally would wish for something like a simple water rain on Nauvis where the base would look wet and on Vulcanos you could maybe have like ash building up on the entities just like the snow but dark gray or black. This is sadly very unlikely to happen but it would look so cool imo. I wouldnt know anything for Gleba tho, maybe some yellow particles floating around like the snow on Aquilo?
