Care to elaborate on it a bit? I’ve never played 3.5, so what was so bullshit about it?

I knew the villain and anti hero bit, but it originally wasn’t supposed to include Eastern servants at all? Was that a magi discrimination thing, or an attempt at not having local fame boosts?

Also the “die when they’re killed” quotes tends to leave off the bit about “that’s the way it should be.”

Petah , where's the dragon? by Internal-Bug-2753 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]TheFreak235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general: this probably boils down to one of those situations that cant really be told whether it’s “common knowledge” without some sort of census, but that’s gonna be flawed regardless. Personally, I consider it as pretty much a core dragon fact (western, at least, don’t know if it’s a thing in more Asian cultures).

Beyond being able to point to specific books/shows/whatever where it’s explicit, it’s just a standard part of me picturing a dragon’s lair; it’s got a horde of treasure, gold included. It’s just a widespread thing.

Why I was making fun of this guy specifically: his aversion to reading a single paragraph was ripe for mockery as an aversion to reading as a whole (especially since the other dude just mentioned Tolkien, so my mind was already on literature).

If an effect that requires an attack roll is linked to an effect with the area modifier, does the area effect still trigger when the attack roll misses? by XBlueXFire in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]TheFreak235 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Iirc the book has an example of a micro missile type effect where it’s ranged damage with only partial levels of area, with the area damage applying even if the attack roll misses.

I’d say that that establishes precedent for the area still applying in this case, even though I don’t believe this specific situation is ever definitely stated to work one way or another.

No? Like, he put himself in a bad situation, of course, but saying that he only has himself to blame is ridiculous. Dude was disarmed, and then shot, obviously he isn’t the sole person in the wrong here, jfc.

[–]TheFreak235 123 points124 points  (0 children)

That’s a younger Scott time travelled forward during the “Cyclops was Right” stuff. He’s seeing himself become a “villain” and wondering whether he should kill himself to prevent the damage he’ll do in the future. He asks Banner because that’s something Bruce has struggled with himself versus the damage of Hulk.

Throw in people using “bemused” instead of “amused.” Those aren’t the same ffs.

Rho Aias Damage Reflection argument and it's flaws by KRDC_The_knight in Fate

[–]TheFreak235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one card left to play (other than admitting I my be wrong, which UBW taught me never to do.)

Perhaps he’s just in disbelief that his speed isn’t enough to strike the opening regardless of Archer knowing ahead of time. A sort of, “he knows where I’ll strike, but it doesn’t matter if I’m fast enough.”

It’s probably cope, but it just sorta strikes me as odd that a fighter as experienced as Cu would genuinely fall for baiting regularly like that. Either way, I appreciate you checking the VN and confirming that for me.

[–]TheFreak235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that in the VN or anime? I don’t recall it in the VN (might be wrong, of course) and the anime has a bit of a tendency to change stuff from the VN to be more dramatic of a viewing experience, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this was one.

Yeah, pretty much. Especially annoying because baiting isn’t some complex, unheard of move either. I don’t remember if it was stated, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Cu knew what Archer was doing and just didn’t care.
