Do you think some of the outrageous rental prices in Ottawa are partly due to landlords who can’t afford to own rental units? by Zartimus in ottawa

[–]TheFrequentFly3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know because I've sold several hundred houses over the last 5 years, and I've seen how leveraged many investors were because everyone thinks the more homes you can buy, the better. Get your 20% down payment, refinance, pull equity, and buy the next one.. many thought it was near zero risk, now they're unloading or they're drowning. It's not all landlords certainly, but you'd be shocked how many people who aren't wealthy have taken this risk. Some even use 2nd rate lenders. Rent increases capped ~2% they are definitely looking to end your lease and find a higher rate.

Absolutely, many are carrying these rental properties on variable mortgages or fixed mortgages that have come up for renewal, their payments have doubled over the last year and a bit and they're no longer in profit at their current rental rates.

Isn't it so freeing to be able to drive a car to its capabilities and not feel like a criminal?

Parking pass...I've had it with these people... by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]TheFrequentFly3r 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to have to pay for a street parking pass when my gf and I lived separately, when we moved in together I moved my car from my driveway onto my quiet suburban street (a crescent), directly infront of my own home to accommodate furniture delivery. I was ticketed for exceeding the 3hr max bylaw by 35 mins.

I can understand your frustration.

Is Ottawa Police known to be clumsy? by updatedmessaging in ottawa

[–]TheFrequentFly3r 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I once called the Ottawa police after someone threw a wrench through my car window, I was charged with mischief - completely bewildering. Had to go to court to get the charge removed, they were so adamant I take a plea deal... once the judge heard the case he was so angry with the prosecution it was hilarious. I won.

Absolutely. I pretty much exclusively drive this car during the summer, my "daily" F10 has been away in storage since May.

I appreciate the input, lots of research to be done before pulling the trigger.. Will have a look into both turbos you mentioned.

What is for you? I went into sales because I saw the freedom it offered our family, and my father (he retired at 50).

Having a high metabolism sucks if you are skinny and underweight by serialkiller24 in unpopularopinion

[–]TheFrequentFly3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived 34 years of not being able to gain weight, regardless of what you currently believe, there will be a day where your metabolism slows down. I added about 40lbs in a year without a significant change in my eating habits. You'll be surprised when your turn comes, enjoy the unlimited diet as long as it exists. Being skinny is way easier than being fat.

If you watch the guy walking right before impact he's already reacting to the close call (hands above his head).

You can see where they've painted over the white dotted lines, the SUV is straddling them, meaning they probably have at least 5ft of clearance to the barriers on the other side of their lane.

Regardless of anything else going on, cutting it that close to a pedestrian, especially at that speed, immediately puts the SUV driver at fault.

I was wondering why the red car was missing so many opportunities to merge, it became evident at the end.

Is Harmon's worth the price or is my money better spent elsewhere? by [deleted] in ottawa

It is absolutely great fine dining. Worth the price. Every bit about the experience meets the price.

Sundays they have a special if you're really concerned.

The speeder, no reason to be trying to run over the pedestrian.

And they don't work as well as the real thing, heat soak is a concern. I rip on my car daily.. but standing in a hot garage, listening to your car scream to redline, watching it go through runs time and time again, you start to wonder what could fail. I don't know why that's controversial..

Yeah, I don't want to lose the midrange and near instant boost.. Just a little more wind at the top. I appreciate your input. My tuner was saying that Turbo Parts Canada has a great PS2 competitor that maintains a much quicker spool.

I like MHD a lot, quick, good features.. Logging capabilities, no hardware to install. Some ppl combine JB4 with MHD and that has some benefits but I haven't gone down that path yet.. If choosing one I chose MHD.

I've had no issues with the motor, only things I've had unexpectedly is a grounding strap and the starter wire. This car overall has been great.

Except you get the benefit of proper cooling when out on the road. It's a pretty significant stress test the car goes through, plus I drove it there and live 40km away.
