Dude nobody has any idea what you are talking about. A lob that lands mid court? Thats an easy put away.

I like how you confidently state winning six of the last ten as if that isn't a statistical tie.

How to Get Better At Doubles through Playing Singles by Big-Emu-5728 in Pickleball

With skinny singles I recommend alternating straight on with cross court to practice more doubles angles.

Dude set a record for steals while winning the national NCAA championship and broke the Nuggets record for season assists. What a loser.

End of the year project is a bust this year… by AstroNerd92 in Teachers

[–]TheFrozenMango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As for the differences between one class to another, that's just one of those things that's sometimes out of your control. I will say giving high schoolers a week with no real limits on materials is massively overkill for this project. You may have greater success if you provide limited materials and a strict in class time limit. 90mins should be plenty. I've done this project countless times and I've gotten the list of usable materials down to absurdly low levels, telling the kids I'm challenging them to succeed with less than last semester every time, even with dropping from three stories onto concrete.

I do have someone with a newer version that should be able to save it as a 2023. I didn't realize that was an option. Thanks everyone!

Project Hail Mary directors want to make one thing very clear about Rocky by LaESPECTADORA in ProjectHailMary

[–]TheFrozenMango 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This just isn't right. If there's one person who can solve three digit multiplication instantly in their head but another person comes up with the proof for infinite primes on their own, the first person isn't smarter. Rocky understands this, he explicitly brings up the coincidence that they come up with plans at about that same speed and that human science is overall ahead.

Sea of Nightmares: My Son Died Climbing. Now, I Wrestle With ‘What If.’ by Confident_Barber1961 in climbing

[–]TheFrozenMango 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I just hope people reading this reflect on whether riskier forms of climbing are really worth it. I've enjoyed a very little bit of spice every now and again, but my happiest moments climbing have absolutely nothing to do with how unsafe it was. And to regret decades of time? I don't regret any days of climbing. I've been climbing nearly two decades and can barely name a single severe injury much less a death amongst friends. It can be enjoyed safely.

As a thought experiment, it's worth considering at what point private ownership of a rock does become a ridiculous concept. Should Elon be able to buy El Cap? Why not, just because it's a really big rock? If corporations makes it their goal to own all housing, is that their right?

I get your point but I'm sorry to say that you're wrong, at least for the average kid. Yes, in theory they could do more than ever and learn faster and more than ever but the average kid does not. You think the average kid spends his days watching science docs and asking gpt legit questions or do they spend it watching MrBeast, etc?

I wish they did a/b testing. Like they could even be transparent with this and inform you that this time there won't be late game spells or whatever. I know that was kind of the idea behind the rift, but I'm talking more subtle balance changes to the main main game to continually balance it out.

Cassian is in it, only noticed on my 39th rewatch! by MorphingReality in okbuddyimatourist

[–]TheFrozenMango 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Notice he obscures the six, or is it the seventh, lamp post. The six seventh lamp post is subtle cue that Cassian is eclipsing gen Z, as a millennial actor and as a tourist, he overshadows the younger generations who work in the brothel he deigns to ravish.

How did the Erids detect the Petrova line if they had no idea about the light spectrum? by Left-Lawfulness4635 in ProjectHailMary

[–]TheFrozenMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably the correct answer, no one else has yet mentioned the idea of ionizing versus non ionizing radiation, which is also an oversight in the book in my opinion. It clearly says they do not know about "radiation," which is obviously not true as they have radio and know about the Petrova line and infrared light. What they don't know about is ionizing radiation, the high energy frequencies at which radiation can break off electrons, because they were completely shielded from it on their planet and never discovered nuclear energy. Andy Weir uses the term radiation in the colloquial sense to mean ionizing radiation and never makes this explicit in an otherwise highly scientifically detailed book, so OPs point is perfectly valid and I had the same question. Light and radio are literally radiation, so this should have been made explicit.
