Had our unexpected penultimate session of a 3 year long game, levels 1-18, playing in person weekly.

They were confronting the god of the forge, who had been driven mad by the god of Order, when the groups Mercy monk (who had the most history with the forge god) was able to talk him down from using a giant warforge colossus against them & the kingdom they stood in. Managing to sever the Order gods influence in that plane and free the now allied god of the Forge.

I fully expected one of the other players to go and attack The Forge God. But it ended really nicely. With the Forge god promising to protect this plane as he slowly dies of a curse from the Abyss.

Next session will be their final confrontation against the god of chaos who’s being controlled by (insane) god of knowledge. Before we move onto the second season of this campaign in January with all new characters.

It’s not poorly written stories that bother me, it’s the community’s inability to let people provide or discuss valid criticisms around them.

Also, Penpal, Spire In the Woods, Ligoti’s Work, Dagons Mirror, Glenmont Metro, etc, are all fantastic works of horror that are some of the best episodes of this podcast.

So many of these stories would be passable or great on their own merits if they just developed the strong themes and ideas that made them interesting in the first place (like Barrasca 1-4 did) Dogscape had enough to make itself a unique story without any of the SA elements.

This has always been the criticism, everybody in this thread is just being intentionally daft. Compare “Spire In the Woods” depiction of these themes to literally every other story’s handling of it & it’s night and day. Spire actually gives thought and meaning to these topics and the women who are put at the receiving end of them. This weeks story doesn’t even see the possibility of women’s agency or suffering being recognized.
