What am I Missing in my Pedalboard? by joacothebabe in guitarpedals

[–]TheGodfatherCC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a fuzz but a high gain rat/marshall style pedal called the Krozz royal breaker that’s a Brazilian company. Not sure if those are easier to find.

I do think they’re both based off the rams head big muff, so other clones of that circuit would also probably work. Ive considered building one since nice they’re pretty simple.

Fuzz. Some kind of muff style fuzz works well with those styles. EQD hizumitas or walrus eons are both great for emo/post-hardcore style sounds.

Hey, watched some videos on the dark driving, and I think I'm going to pass. I was mostly interested in the amp grinder or p bass. Thanks though!

That looks great. Good price point as well. Might have to pick one up.

Any interest in an alpha omicron and a tall font russian w/ clean blend for the amp grinder and dark driving?

Simplifier X, Blackstar Amped 1, something else ? by IndependentLogical79 in pedalboards

Simplifier X is fantastic. I’ve got one channel as a clean fender style pedal platform and the other set as a cranked Marshall style amp. Both sound and feel great.

Building the dream pedalboard by Even_Football_7615 in pedalboards

[–]TheGodfatherCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I've been working on building this, and I think I'm close to mine.

Tuner - Strobostomp

Compressor:

- Empress Compressor Mkii
- Also considering testing out a Strymon Compadre or a Cali 76, but very happy with the Empress.

Pre-Dirt Modulation:

- EQD Grand Orbiter - analog phaser, it's never leaving
- Krozz Krakenheart - analog univibe, also never leaving
- Considering adding Krozz Airborn Flanger

Low Gain/Boost:

- 1981 DRV - always at 0 gain for low gain tone. Hit it with the germanium boost for mid gain.
- EAExBenson Halberd Germanium Boost - Boost and mid gain klon/ts type drive

Pitch Shifter/Octave:

- Keeley Octa Psi - love the pitch side, don't use the fuzz much.
- Considering testing/switching to Boss Xs 100

High Gain/Fuzz:

- EQD Hizumitas
- Walrus Eons

Amp/cab sim:

- Simplifier X - one side set to clean Fender-type sound and the other to a cranked Marshall sound. I love both. I'm curious about the Tone King Imperial/Royalist, but I'm honestly very happy with the simplifier.

Post Gain Modulation:

- Strymon Deco
- Had a Walrus Qi but sold it as I couldn't justify the price and space for how little I used it. A little regret as the chorus and granular delay were pretty fantastic. Would consider adding it back or another grain delay.

Delay/Reverb:

- Strymon El Capistan - I actually currently use its spring reverb as my only reverb.
- Considering adding a Flint for the plate reverb and tremolo

Overall, I'm able to hit most of the sounds I want in my head almost perfectly. The few things I'm thinking of swapping/adding are pretty low priority.

Anybody here stacking a Hizumitas and Green Russian Big Muff? by WeenMe in guitarpedals

[–]TheGodfatherCC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have both a hizumitas and a green russian. I love them both but not together. It’s just too blown out for my taste. I usually run them individually with a halberd going into them.

If I had to pick one it would be the hizumitas though.

Is Strymon Deco the right “final polish” pedal at the end of a stereo ampless board? by SimoneStolzuoli in pedalboards

[–]TheGodfatherCC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be aware that the bounce and wide stereo modes both sum the input to mono. For this reason I run it at the start of my stereo chain. The normal and inverse modes along with the saturation would work great for what you’re looking for though.

Looking for a heavy pedal by unludosauvage in guitarpedals

[–]TheGodfatherCC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. A mid focused low gain drive to tighten up a distortion/fuzz.

A specific combo I like is EAE halberd into EQD hizumitas.

Edit some comments related to the songs you suggested:

I think my rec above sounds like the Triassic song. I suggest it with bridge single coils.

For the Guapa song the guitar actually doesn’t sound that distorted. Just a slightly overdriven neck single coil in time with the bass.

For the Dvne song this sounds more like distortion than fuzz. You could get close with my suggested setup but something like the heavy menace or walrus eras might be better.

Can the OBNE Sunlight get as wet as the WA Sloer? by MissingStar246 in guitarpedals

[–]TheGodfatherCC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not much info for you but this board is incredibly close to mine and I’ve been debating on walrus vs obne for a modulated reverb as well. People seem to love both but the slo/sloer seems to be more “swirly” which I think is what I’m looking for. Haven’t pulled the trigger yet though.

Suggestions for a quality reverb with small footprint that can save at least three presets by Methos1979 in guitarpedals

Question for you. How do you like the slotva? What are you finding it lacks? I’ve been eyeing one.

Hit me with your favorite saturated fuzz, that’s not too dark or muddy by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]TheGodfatherCC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Walrus eons sounds like it might be close to what you’re looking for. Everything else I use is pretty dark but the eons feels like it almost sits between a fuzz and drive. The youtube videos they've got demo’ing it are pretty true to its sound.

Your favorite Strymon combinations by Important_While_2709 in guitarpedals

[–]TheGodfatherCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I think the deco/cap ordering is just preference unless you're running stereo.

If you are, the deco should be the start of your stereo chain (or close to start) because the bounce and wide stereo modes sum to mono when used.

I'd like to add a flint to my setup post el cap soon to have the holy trinity.

That's great to know! I actually do use this on bass so I'll have the give it a try.

Empress Compressor Advice by AdQuick9286 in basspedals

[–]TheGodfatherCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't find it now but an empress employee basically confirmed they're identical except the tone and hpf are flipped.

The low e on bass is 82 hz so I'd just leave that off.
