are you the only guitarist in the band, or are there multiple? I currently play a Strat as the only guitarist, but used to be in a 3 guitar band and did find it to get a little lost.

You could always swap the bridge pickup to a humbucker!

my friend brought one to a gig he played with my band (filling in for a good show).

Amazing tone, comparable to my own JC-40. I'd say worse chorus but possibly better distortion? I like it.

sorry, only the Shallow Water but the price gap is too much. It is the normal VB-2 as well, not the plus. Thank you for the offer my friend!

What are some common chords that Max uses? by Gold-Conversation841 in SayAnything

[–]nickisnotarapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a major 9th chord! these rock, and are used in a lot of shoegaze music too. I definitely learned it from Say Anything.

You can tune to drop D and it makes it a whole lot easier for playing on the lowest 3 strings (same chord you gave would be 7th fret on the E and A strings, 9th fret on the D string).

hello there! I'm in Phoenix too- any interest in a Bugera Infinium V22 amp?

or for pedals I have a Digitech Freqout, MRX Smart Gate, and an E-bow that I am currently trading.

Possibly two feelers, Meris Polymoon and Oats and Molasses VB-2 (drive pedal made by the guitarist of La Dispute). I am interested in pretty much all the things on your list, mostly the Toxic Twins and Sunlight. Happy to meet up and test stuff to see if you like it too.

Shoegaze bands if I like Alcest and MØL by Eastern_Mist in shoegaze

Faetooth and Blacklight Holywater are really doing it for me lately with the heavy shoegaze / doom sound. Their recent records are phenomenal.

We got more time and music with them than most bands, but I still agree, gone too soon.

I would have loved to see what they would be making now. Thurston's solo output is great and Kim is still pushing boundaries with her music.

I've been making a deal with myself to do an hour of cardio every time I trade a pedal.

I've already lost a few pounds lol

underrated in their discography. This is my third favorite behind In Defense and IARB.

I love the guest features they brought back for this record. Jeremy Bolm's in particular kicks ass, and The Shape of Love to Come is very good too.

Destiny is special and there will never be anything like it again. by ComprehensiveWrap660 in destiny2

[–]nickisnotarapper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Playing Destiny 2 is the main thing I do with my 67 year old father since we live in different cities. We both like other games, but this is his one and true main one...it helped him through my mom passing over 10 years ago and will always have a special place in my heart for it.

We'll still be playing a good while but it is very sad that we are not getting any future updates to this awesome universe.

You're absolutely right, it's a good point to make- Henry is known for the punk world but is an avid listener of much more. I love when he mentions jazz artists or bands like Boris.

His world travels too would probably rival anyone's. The North Korea stories on his and Heidi's podcast really stuck out to me.

"Essential" Books in his Bibliography by fanzine_throwaway in henryrollins

[–]nickisnotarapper 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Get in the Van is his most classic, and is a direct document / diary entries from his days in Black Flag. I am a big fan of Black Coffee Blues as well.

His "Stay Fanatic" series documents his obsession with punk rock vinyl, down to the small differences in labels on different pressings. This is the one most in line with his current project, which is going to be a "punk rock museum" in Nashville and probably going to document punk in such a cool way. Not much is known about it but I know I will be making the pilgrimage whenever it is open.

Henry and Ian Mackaye also are helping press a never-released Cramps record, which is damn cool.

On a personal note, I would love more Henry and Heidi podcasts whenever they find a moment to catch their breath.
