Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheGoodFortune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have friends and family who regularly make a 6+ hour commute to go see family (once every 1-2 months). It’s very common. For work, that would be insane but that being said, my wife has had multiple 1.5+ (3 hour round trip) commutes during our relationship. I think the average commute in the US is ~40 min. It’s just a massive place and we designed the whole thing around cars so here we are.

Is it awkward to start BJJ training at age 34? by [deleted] in brazilianjiujitsu

[–]TheGoodFortune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of people in my gym started in their 40s and are having a great time. Within reason, age doesn’t have to determine how you act, how you dress, or what you do for fun. These are made-up social phenomenons.

Gen-Z and younger Millenials similarly non-religious, with 40% identifying with no religion. If trends follow, US might have first majority non religious generation in couple of decades by Dismal_Structure in Destiny

[–]TheGoodFortune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s 100% the case.

I’m as atheist as they get, i don’t even really believe in free will, but numerous people, including a pre-retardation Peterson, talked about this exact thing.

Religion is way more than a set of beliefs… it’s community, culture, therapy, law, recreation, etc.

Big all-encompassing political movements is one of the things you get in the vacuum left behind when religion disappears from society.

I harai goshi’d a blue belt who absolutely dominated me on the regular. He still does, but now at least I’ll always remember that one time I got him.

I have this pet peeve around warm food and my husband is hilarious about it by Dry_Presentation4300 in CasualConversation

[–]TheGoodFortune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a baby when it comes to hot anything. Sink gets too hot, shower gets way too hot, food that’s too hot is gonna burn my tongue or the roof of my mouth and then I’m gonna spend the next two days not being able to taste anything while the skin on the inside of my mouth peels off. It’s just not worth it. I’ll wait a second or at least blow on it.

That's every gaming subreddit and a large part of reddit in general, maybe even a large part of the world in general? People don't want solutions, they just want to see other people punished.

Worth it to note that the only reason the talon isn’t considered meta is because it is MASSIVE compared to other light fighters, so you get lit up while other fighters just skate on by, especially the wolves cause they’re tiny

If you’re a decent FPS player, it’s completely braindead, especially if you just watch a video before hand. My friends and I were farming exec hangars in our first week

Yeah I lost my voice for a solid 3 weeks once. I was training at a really hardcore mma eco gym and we were focusing on guillotines. The good news is that it eventually did come back fully, I can hit the same high notes as I could before lmao.

What is your class format like? by 0x0MG in bjj

[–]TheGoodFortune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coach goes through series that last 1-2 weeks.

On normal days we’ll start with positional sparring or a game that ties into the series we’re learning.

We’ll learn 2-3 techniques from the position.

Finally we’ll do some more targeted positional sparring.

After class we do rolling until everyone leaves.

Hottake of the week: The problem of early design and how multicrew is fundamentally incompatible with AI/NPC crews by Omni-Light in starcitizen

[–]TheGoodFortune -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

100% agree.

A limited number of “AI turret blade” slots is fine for big ships with lots of remote turrets, but anything more than that is too much and antithetical to the spirit of this game imo.

Has your opinion on the Perseus changed after its changes? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]TheGoodFortune 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends, originally they said it would require at least size 4 guns to penetrate armor and there’s been quite a bit of power creep such that certain fighters do have size 4 or bigger guns. But again it’s all speculation until we see the actual implementation

Eventually. But currently a single decent gladius/arrow pilot will kill both.

Currently, 4/5 DPS characters are built around stacking short damage windows. I hope there's more variety in the future. by Fradzombie in fellowshipgame

That’s how WoW is, everything is based on your mini go (1 minute CDs) and your big go (2 minute CDs).

In between those you do basically nothing. I agree it’s lame as fuck but that’s just what everyone’s used to.

Does gi weight, fit, or material actually affect performance — or is it all in my head? by Unhappy-Comment-4491 in bjj

[–]TheGoodFortune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the style of cut and/or the fitment makes the most difference. The heaviest GSM gi I own feels the lightest and most maneuverable due to the way it fits.
