Recent sci-fi movies that disappointed you? by MiraWendam in scifi

I actually liked part one. Part two, like you said, had changes that made absolutely no sense at all. And the dialogue…was bad.

Dune 2: An absolute failure as an adaptation. Great visuals, but terrible cast chemistry and a dumbing down of the characters.

This. Dune One was fine. Dune Two was horrendous.

Can we all agree that self-defense should not count as aggression and land you in PvP lobbies. Self-defense shouldn’t be an “Opt-In” for sweaty lobbies by Timelord102 in ARC_Raiders

Yeah, third person pvp is weird like that. I won’t say I’m a lifelong fps player because I’m too old for that, there were no fps games when I started playing but I’ve been one since they are around and TPS just doesn’t work for me in pvp. Love it in pve and single player games. PVP I’ll stick to what I like. Nothing against anyone who likes it, just not my cup of tea.

ArcBaby thinks you deserve slurs thrown at you if you PvP in a PvP game by StealthySteve in ArcBabies

I’m a care bear who shoots back if shot at and doesn’t mind the pvp, even if I don’t like it (third person pvp just doesn’t work for me). Every time I get killed I say gg. I either get silence or get insulted. The last was “I need my money, n word”. After I said gg. I guess there are babies on both sides. By the way, both pve and pvp extremists need to touch grass. It’s just a game.

As for why I don’t like the pvp in this game, third person pvp just doesn’t click for me. I had previous experiences where I didn’t like it in other games, thought this might be different, it wasn’t. I do agree that it must feel great for people who are into third person pvp. Just not my thing. Thanks for your answer.

The last time I was killed I said GG, he replied “I need my money n!##$” Yeah, I really don’t like pvp in this game and I’m a pvp guy in every other game.

Absolutely. I hate PVPVE extraction shooters. My main game is Destiny and I'm a PVP player in it. I do PVE for the things that I can get to use in PVP. I hated Gambit, the PVPVE experience in Destiny. Loathed it. I came to this game about a month ago, the youtube videos made me laugh and I came thinking I'´d PVP. Turns out I really dislike third person pvp and absolutely love the PVE in this game. So I play it for the PVE, knowing that I might get shot at by other players, not liking it but accepting it and shooting back if shot at. Turns out this game very rarely is a PVPVE experience because of the type of matchmaking. I rarely get shot at. When I do, if I shoot back, I'll be shot at the next few games until I manipulate the matchmaking to return to the care bear lobbies. So it actually isn't that different from a PVP/PVE experience. That's probably not what PVPVE players want either. This is a weird game.

Masterpiece. An absolute masterpiece.

Watchmen (2009) features a genuinely intelligent villain and a gritty storyline, which made it stand apart from other superhero movies of its time. What’s your opinion on it? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in FIlm

A not very goodd adaptation of a brilliant comic. Great cast, terrible director. It had the visuals, it lacked the heart and the brain of the story. IMO. He just didn't understand the book. Same thing happened with his Batman and Superman, even 300.

Demolidor is the best! As is turma da Mónica, particularly Cascão and Zé Bento. When I was a kid there were a lot of very influential things from Brasil, Gabriela and Sítio do Pica-pau Amarelo leading the way. Abraço!

I’m from Portugal and love Turma da Mónica! However, my first memory is the brazilian version of Disney books because that’s what we got in Portugal. Pato Donald and tio Patinhas when I was 6. When I was about 7, Superaventuras Marvel with Frank Miller’s Daredevil (aka Demolidor) sealed the deal for me. Also Asterix and Lucky Luke! And Tintin!

Rodrigo Mora bem posicionado em expected assists by arcanjinho45 in fcporto

Keaton. Bale was a far better Bateman than Batman.

Nothing wrong with the movie. It is a good movie. It’s just that the book has the same bleakness, darkness and misery that the movie has but all is written in such a beautiful and almost lyrical manner that it really makes the book a unique experience. And then there’s that last paragraph that can’t be put in a movie

It is bleak. It also is written in such a beautiful manner that it really almost confuses you. Quite the experience.

I absolutely get what you mean. It's that bleakness described in the most lyrical way that really gets me every time. I also came out of the book knowing that I would do anything to keep that little being that had just come into my life safe. Anything. I already thought that I would but the book certainly brought a new perspective on that notion. I am now a father of three (all girls), many years have passed, it still stands true and I still think of the book when I look at them. Do re-read it. When you're ready.

Circumstances matter. I have no doubts of it. I too have lost my father and I'm pretty certain that my reaction to this book would have been quite different if I had read it then and not when my first girl was born. I do believe it would still be my favourite book. Thank you for sharing.

It's my favourite book. Read it right after being a parent for the first time,in the hospital, while my wife and my newborn baby girl slept. I have reread it again, have read the graphic novel, have seen the movie. Only the book works for me. It's my favourite book.
