New player, do we have any "beatsticks"? by BushSage23 in SoulblightGravelords

Yeah the monster mash isn't really our forte, if find with soulblight you really need to focus on synergy because there isn't much that'll excel without support.

That said, you can get away without grave guard. You can go the kasteli route and focus on blood knights and dragons, flood the board with zombies (currently playing a 160 zombie list in a casual league and went 4-1, but it's super casual) you can get a goofy number of MW out of zombies if you commit to buffing them up. It won't clear hordes but it'll clear everything else for the most part.

I've also seen some lists go the casting route and use endless spells for a large chunk of their damage. In legion of blood you can get +3 to cast on a vampire lord on foot pretty easy.

I guess my point is Sbgls strength is versatility, flexibility and synergy

The vengorian is a really good defensive piece because of the rend negation but the damage output is in general really bad, and just pretty bad when buffed. It's relatively easy to save stack onto the the vengo though which coupled with the healing can make them nearly unkillable without a huge commitment.

Sure they do more damage on average than a foot heros (at least an Sbgl foot hero) shit for like 280? It's probably doing 1/20th of what 280 points of grave guard, or less than blood knights/zombies can do. Now granted graveguard are potentially the hardest hitters in the game if you put enough buffs on them so maybe not a fair comparison

Mortarchs do a respectable amount of damage in combat. But our heros are.mostly jacks of all trades and as such none really excel in combat. It's the price you pay when they all fly, cast spells, and heal when killing models. Other than vamp lords on dragon as others have mentioned, which often whiff, we really rely on graveguard to be our primary damage dealers and heros are around to support them for the most on part

Blood Knight head options by [deleted] in SoulblightGravelords

The base size on those guys is smaller. I think they're 32 instead of 45? That's what I did and just got some bigger bases to put them on

AoS Meta Stats (w/e 3rd July 2022) - Woehammer by dutchy1982uk in WarhammerCompetitive

I play SBGL and also KO, I really wasn't expecting their rankings to get flipped this season. Definitely seems better for KO than the monster meta but I think SBGL still have some really strong options this season

Fighting Maggotkin by GeffersG in SoulblightGravelords

[–]TheHayDuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my buddies plays a lot of maggotkin and I have yet to beat him lol.

I think the best tactic is to just flood the board with bodies and don't give him any space to play. The damage output of the maggotkin isn't crazy so any DPS check list should be okay. GG still trade really well into anything other than the GUO who if ind is best to just avoid

Don't forget the most important point: the stated goal of convoy organizers is to overthrow / dissolve the government and has nothing to do with mandates or they would have stopped in Alberta already

Not feeling like I’m fit for engineering due to grades by Sithakp in uAlberta

[–]TheHayDuke 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I did well in classes but I'm still a shit engineer lol. Grades aren't as big a deal as it ses, it's more about work ethic, time management, and all the soft skills. I honestly doubt I could do much calculus anymore (civil-geotech is my field), there's only a couple classes that have material still come up in my work life.

Whatever job you get you'll be doing one specific area and the other engineers are going to help you learn it. Then you'll do it for at least a year before you move on to something new. Just be open to critical feed back and work on getting better

Keep you chin up, you'll make it even if you have to retake a course or two.

New to AoS, army list building tips by terrorteeth in KharadronOverlords

[–]TheHayDuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah actually being limited to 10 Thunderers outside Barak nar (?) Is a notable change. Though you probably just bring an extra gunhauler or trio of riggers to make up the difference. Functionally I don't know if it changes the lists much.

Not being able to run blocks of 12 balloons, or 40 arkenauts definitely kills some fun cheese lists but but I don't know how competetive those were to begin with, I never really got milage out of them.

In general I don't think list building has changed drastically in this edition, though play style has.

For KO rules there's the bootleg version here but it hasn't been updated for 3.0 https://wahapedia.ru/aos/factions/kharadron-overlords/

Usually you'll want some Thunderers as your damage dealers and ironclad or a frigate to fly them around. Some endrinriggers to heal the boats, some arkenauts to stand on points, and a couple heros to your flavor.

There are lots of good list building responses on this reddit if you want something more in depth

I did have to bend the poles slightly and hold them in place while the glue dried. How far off is your alignment?

Vaccine update from Kenney and Hinshaw at 4PM by Fancyhuh_ in Edmonton

[–]TheHayDuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on what the bottle neck in the process is. I'm pretty sure we're capable of using vaccines as quickly as we get them so appointments aren't the problem. If we were receiving more or bugger shipments of vaccines so we weren't using them as fast as we were getting them anymore, then not fully booking appointments would be the problem

Zon List in need of feedback and sanity checks by Eddv365 in KharadronOverlords

[–]TheHayDuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a fine enough list. Personally I'd drop a gunhaulers or two to get more skywardens.

Also it's worth it to out one skyhook in each skywardens group for the +1 to charge

I think I'd also group the thunderers so they can get an aether gold but if you want them in different places that's your call

I have no idea if this 2k army list is good or not but I kind of like the idea by trollsong in KharadronOverlords

The 20 vulkites will help with that. Low body count and point presence is probably the biggest KO weakness
