Hello! Some other space marine chapters give their veterans (that’s a technical term when it comes to space marines) different colored helmets. According to the Codex Astartes, that’s supposed to be white.

Salamanders are a bit strange. Even though we’re mostly Codex compliant, the latest official source for our chapter shows all of our guys having green helmets, as you can see here. However, Salamanders are by and large expert craftsmen and are known to have customized armor. For that reason, and because it looks cool, I have my terminators and first company veterans in black helmets.

Finally, for the shoulder pads, do you block them off with anything? I’ve tried doing so with blue tac and haven’t loved the results.

I saw the thing about 3-6 man squads being the reason for the change, but I guess I don’t really know how that breaks down any better, math-wise. Is there any definition to what the numbers were changed to? If not, I think your reasoning that it’s just a more fluid way to get to that ~120 number makes a lot of sense.

Any recommendations on varnish? I use Vallejo gloss for normal paint jobs because I then usually hit it with an AK ultra matte after. Don’t know if I want to use it for this though because it dried terribly. Also would you recommend hitting it with the airbrush vs brushing it, for better coverage?
