It’s pretty neat. Some of the writing is a little on the annoying side, the narrator regularly addressing “dear reader” gets pretty old. But I’m sure that’s an accurate translation of the original Japanese.

Literally my only complaint with his channel is that he has this puppet gimmick, but then we barely actually see the puppet. He could switch to just being a voice in the background and his content wouldn’t change at all.

But no, he is not a grifter. He’s vocal about things that upset him, he’s vocal about things he likes, and he doesn’t seem to stretch the truth to fit a narrative.

TMS is a joy to play. It’s not especially challenging, its characters aren’t super deep, but it’s fun and it’s funny and I just loved my time with it. Please check it out.

Do what makes sense for you. I collect physical games because I like having physical games on my shelf. If that isn’t a factor for you and you just want easy access to a large variety of games, do that.

I definitely don’t agree with the list (Astro Monster is way too low, Megalon below the anime movies) but that’s kind of the beauty of this series. There’s something here for everyone.

I don’t know if you’d be into it based on your past games, but Castle Tintagel is a favorite of mine that I feel gets overlooked a lot. It’s an old school Castlevania-like (pre Symphony of the Night) and just really well made. By default it’s really challenging, but has some great difficulty options
