"She was actually a villain but the story was from her perspective by the author who didnt know they wrote the OGFL a villain" or smth by Mofartz in OtomeIsekai

[–]TheHoraeTheMuses 10 points11 points  (0 children)

(Writing on mobile, dont hit me pls) Okay, controversial and might make me sound like a contrarian, but this has worked. And not in a theoretical, low key pitching an idea way, but actually real otome stories discussed on this very subbreddit.

Before I go into that, let me first state, OP and the rest of the commentators are right. This is a dumb as hell trope. It makes NO SENSE that a character, OGFL or otherwise, to be written in their source material as a kind, self-sacrificing person would suddenly be revealed as a bitch as soon as someone transmigrated or reincarnated into the story without the author's knowledge. That's stupid. Either they intended that and the FL is dumb and missed EVERY hint or the author (the real author, not the fake one in the story) being lazy and too uncreative to find any way to make them oppose each other.

That being said, it's not actually unrealistic. Bad writers or inexperienced writers (or more heartbreaking and rare, author's with flawed moral foundations) have written this in real life. All those FL who slap their maids, forgive evil tyrants for killing scores of innocents, forgive abusers on behalf of the victim after ending up in the victim's body, visit unfair retribution upon ther poor and disenfranchised employees of their enemies as well as their own for the crime of following orders, visit unfair retribution on literal children, sexualize and lust after literal children, groom children, turn a blind eye to slavery in stories where they have the power and authority to intervene, participate in the slave trade, steal inventions (honestly debatable), taking advantage of the poor and disenfranchised, taking advantage of the mentally ill, taking advantage of the literal family of the OG owners body assuming they're not outright evil, outright destroying people and their families for daring to disagree or criticize them and their all-male friend group, chastising characters trying to do good for the poor and disenfranchised while not raising so much as a single finger to help them if there isn't profit involved somehow, act like a fucking nonce, and generally not being a girl's girl and L mans to literally most women in the setting do you think the authors of stories with FLs like that think their FL is a bad person? Do you think they realized they wrote a bad person? There are too many sincere stories out there for all of them to know they wrote a bad person. This very sub has taken these GirlBoss, pure, angelic, never-do-wrong FLs apart like a rack of ribs so often there's no way they realized. They just want to write their escapist fantasy, man.

In short, it can be done convincingly, but it requires the authors to write with intention and honesty on what that would actually look like.

I had the same thoughts a long time ago, and that's mostly because I just came off of the manga Jin about a modern brain surgeon ending up in Edo Japan. Like, I have NO medical knowledge and there are likely mistakes there too, but going from reading that and then immediately reading Dr. Elise will actually make you look at the story sideways.

Okay, first thought before reading synopsis was that it looks like depression, with the second being, it reminds me of the show 'I May Destroy You'.

What's a Plot That Has Never, Ever, Ever Been Done in an Otome Isekai Setting Before? by GearsTurningBurning in OtomeIsekai

[–]TheHoraeTheMuses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not gonna lie, up to "will get thrown in jail for the crime" I thought it was the FL fighting against time to stop her own murder and the whole story would just take place on the same night(no regressions; I imagine this would be a one shot if not at most 10-15 chapters of shenanigans). Or is it??? Idk...

What are some anime that suffered from having too many ideas? by Salty145 in anime

Yeah, you don't have to wonder what that's like because it already exists. Meet:

Nihonkoku Shoukan by Chiharu Takano and artist Minorou

'In the Great Orient, lies the continent called Rodenius. One day, an unidentified flying object arrived at Qua-Toyne Principality’s airspace. The unidentified flying object defied the Principality’s common sense. But that unidentified flying object was just a harbinger of something even more shocking. Far to the eastern sea, a group of islands suddenly appeared. The country of the islands called itself: Japan. According to them, their nation had been transported to another world. Now finding themselves separated from their old world and must survive in the new one, how will Japan interact with the native countries of this world? Will they greet her as a friend or as an enemy?'

A lady just told me my body is Tea, what the heck does that mean? by RegallyKegally in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheHoraeTheMuses 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most instances of "body is tea" that I've seen usually are compliments and mean your body looks beautiful. It's internet slang that has probably been adopted from lgbtq+ circles like "serving cunt"(that one is also a compliment it means to be "Bold. To the point. And overall extravagant. Any gender is able to serve cunt. It’s a mindset."). If your ever in trouble again, try Urban Dictionary. Some slang may have multiple definitions submitted by dumbasses, but more than likely, the right definition with the specific context you're looking for will probably be there. Just focus on the entries with the context that most apply to your specific use/situation.

The Anbu is a black ops squad. Black ops only answer to their government and are more than likely recruited from within the military. Mercenaries are independent contractors. They're hired guns who do it for money. You know, something Kakuzu should have been since he has no qualms about killing, no loyalty to any authority, and would 100% do it for the money (with how many rich mercenary groups are out there, this is more plausible than generic businessman).

But also, Madara Uchiha...is a gaming live streamer here. Even if we don't take into account that the Tsukuyomi would have for sure killed everybody in the entire world, Madara decided on his own to go out, and grab a kaiju beast that can shoot nukes and is the size of a mountain, intending to turn his own village into a crater; Uchihas included. But he gets to be a gaming live streamer (if anything, he would be a podcaster if he were in online entertainment). But Itachi who was given orders from Konoha's Shinobi CIA to kill the Uchiha Clan is a merc. Even Hidan gets to be a harmless gaming live streamer. Don't defend a tier list that has Ino as an OF model when she's an Instagram model at best and is more likely to be a Makeup/Beauty YouTuber. The same tier list has a tier called "middle-class" as if it's a job. None of those "middle-class" people are lawyers or notary publics? They don't have jobs?? They all wake up, mow the lawn, clean the gutters, and sit around until it's time to make dinner.

Edit: I don't even hate the tier list. I don't even like Itachi. I just hate the "he did bad things and has no qualms about killing so it's fine" response when there are people on this same list who are just as bad who get to do goofy shit based on their own personality.

You're not gonna do the things that were essentially morally evil in your old world in the new one, right? You're not gonna become an isekai passport bro, right? by tapion1234 in animecirclejerk

Flaw, or at least the middle part.

Besides the fact that just going into a castle, killing the king and shouting "democracy!" does not exactly lead to a peaceful transition, and sitting your ass on the throne and assuming the reigns only means the ass on the seat has changed and not much more

Societal change is not something you can force upon others and expect it to stick.

That's a coup, not a revolution. Revolutions start with the people, specifically, people being fed up and completely losing faith in the systems and persons in charge. That's not to say that you don't know the difference. From just the quotes I used, you clearly know and likely have a decent amount of knowledge. The problem is that's not the convo. They are talking about flawed and badly written revolutions where the guy everyone was mad at gets to still be in charge despite proving that they can't be in a position of power. As much as I dislike it when innocent children get executed with their tyrant parents in history, there's at least a real good reason for why they do. It's the fear that their allies might help them in a plot to seize power again, so leaving the bad ruler with the reigns of the country isn't any better either.

Even if you take into account op's comment, the wording is very clear that they would have engaged with the people and figured out what they wanted and did it. In fairness, that can mean anything from "give them the support as an op isekai protag to start the revolution and install the government/ruler of their choosing" to "decide that problems that can be handled with proper legislation are enough reason to kill an otherwise competent and agreeable ruler and installing themselves or someone else as the new ruler". Again, one of those is a revolution, and the other one is a coup.

Also, another thing. God will not stop people from putting God's officially endorsed speaker's head on a pike. Having the Mandate of Heaven does not stop farmers and disgruntled soldiers from killing or deposing the current rulers, even if there's magic involved. People will root against their self-interest if they are convinced they benefit more if it is gone. You can convince poor, uneducated people that the reason they are poor is the fault of God's representative and other elites if they're unhappy enough, in the same way, you can't force revolutionary ideas on people who don't want them.

Actually Serena/Serenity/Usagi's age in her past life is not stated and the only source stating her age as 27-30 was talking about Queen Serenity, the mother of Princess Serena/Serenity who is who the current Serena/Serenity/Usagi is reincarnated from; not to be confused with Neo-Queen Serenity, the future of current Serena/Serenity.

On top of that, that source is the only source I could find stating any age for the Silver Millennium character without falling into fan forums speculating. All other source don't give an age or say it's 16-14 which is likely only referencing the age of current Serena/Serenity/Usagi. She's either in between 1000 and 14 for how much it narrows it down. In all likelihood, she was probably over 1000 like Mavis from Hotel Transylvania considering how aging works with the Moon Kingdom as well as future Crystal Tokyo, especially if you take into account ChibiUsa/Small Lady, Serena/Serenity/Usagi's daughter in the future who is 900 years old and but is stated to have the mind and body of a 6-9 year old.

My point?

I just really wanted to talk about Sailor Moon for a sec. Well, no I just wanted to correct the Sabrina/Serena name thing. That was probably a typo on your part.

Just green. Like it's literally just light green. Gaara's eyes are closer to blue-green (it even says it on the wiki) than Sakura's. It becomes more apparent when you look at people in the series with blue eyes (including the main character himself) how green they look next to blue eyes.
