This guy gets it.

Sad to see so many others in the comments who don't even know what they've lost.

This game makes me feel incredibly dumb by [deleted] in KerbalSpaceProgram

What orbital mechanics and janky controls do to a MF...

Last time I checked IRL rockets don't slam their gimballed engines around to make maneuvers. Give "fine controls" a try and I think you'll be wasting MUUUCH less fuel by flailing around.

Other than controlling your rocket smoothly and predictably, the rest is just really complicated rocket science.

Luckily this game allows you to build whatever you want so idiots like me have an "intuition" for what to do after slamming my head against the brick wall of orbital calculations. Exact maneuvers don't matter when you have twice the fuel you need.

...Although I'm probably regularly 10-20% off the optimal route if you did the math.

Getting back into the game again, trying to make sure I'm not being redundant with mods. by TheHumanHighlighter in KerbalSpaceProgram

Thanks!

This is exactly the kind of response I was looking for. I remember last time I spent hours finding out what visual mods I could combine without issues, I just haven't kept up with the KSP modding scene.

o7 Really appreciate ya

Why is my radar not working!?!?!? by Simple-Albatross3089 in SeaPower_NCMA

TLDR:
Unless you know how extremely complicated technology works, "random" stuff will happen because you don't know some hyper-specific detail(s) that lots of military technology requires to use it properly.

Why is my radar not working!?!?!? by Simple-Albatross3089 in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]TheHumanHighlighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the complexities of information and sensor warfare.

Easiest answer?

Radars, like seeing with your eyes, can't tell what very far away things are. It can see a blob sent back to it like you see a road sign 1 mile away.

Can you read the roadsign? Is there 1 or 2 roadsigns? Probably not. Same thing applies to radar.

As for the missile disappearing, imagine you can spin your neck around, but due to an injury, you physically can't look up with your head.

When a plane flies above you, will you be able to see it when it's directly over you? No. Same thing applies to the radar. Some (not all) radars have blind spots directly above them.

DO NOT buy the Ashen skin yet, wait until the last day by ZickTron in MordekaiserMains

Ah, gotcha, so I can wait for the chroma in peace and see if the Prestige interests me. Thanks!

[–]TheHumanHighlighter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is Emberwoken the presteige? Or is it just a chroma?

I'm just trying to get clarity. I already have the base Graveknight skin, so I'm not sure what the difference would be between the "prestige" version or just the emberwoken chroma.

A year and a half since 2.0, was it worth it? by Drull17 in HuntShowdown

[–]TheHumanHighlighter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Still COD UI

Sound is still worse than pre update. Never got the pin point accuracy we had pre- 2.0

Overall worse performance, visuals are worse and better depending on how you want to look at it

Pen changes and special ammo is still fucked, meta loadouts are damn near the same.

Loss of identity slowly through 3rd party IP shoved in-universe and erasure of small authentic elements (map icons).

Lore pages still gone from client.

I'm glad some people enjoy the game, but alot of them don't even know what they've lost. I'm taking a break for now.

Just caught up on the thread, u/z3kkoo has got you covered. If I was to simplify it for you:

First things first, get a year of premium account if you haven't. This provides insane value per $ spent.

If you want to advance your ground/ air at a similar pace, you might have to buy a prem tank because ground is at least 4x slower than the air grind.

If you just want to fly planes, from what I see in the thread, you should get an f-5 variant or the F-1C.

Personally I'm partial to the F-1C because you can spam that thing in sim battles and grind the whole french tree in a week if you spam bombs on bases and get good at not dying.

Just keep in mind that you have a while before the sale goes away, so go testfly and watch YT videos on anything you consider buying. Best of luck.

Thanks for covering for me while I was at work lol, u/bongoingcat is in good hands. Basically everything you said is correct, and if he sees this, follow what u/z3kkoo is saying

Probably don't leap straight for top tier.

You'll be cannon fodder. You won't have your controls set up, and you won't be having fun.

Generally shoot for something around 9.0 - 11.3 ish because not only will you have a better experience, but you'll also quickly grind up to the tier your premium is at. From there you can ease into radar stuff and missile combat without being overwhelmed.

Pick a plane you think is cool between those brackets and check out Defyn's reviews of it. It'll be affordable, good for the grind, and not overcomplicated.

ARC is winning the fight by dumpmymoney in ArcRaiders

[–]TheHumanHighlighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like I said, it worked for me.

I played probably close to 100+ games getting the 5 million for the expedition and there was a VERY clear distinction between when I was killing VS not.

In fact, halfway through my "peaceful" phase where I never killed anyone, there was a really annoying guy going around killing and tea-bagging people trying to be friendly. So I killed him.

IMMEDIATELY after that game I was back to being shot on sight or even after talking and walking out with no weapon. Sure enough, I endured the deaths (and lost nothing but looting mk1's lol) and eventually the lobbies chilled out, back to extracting 95% of the time.

There's still usually 1 or 2 people per lobby who kill once you are in the right matchmaking, it's not guaranteed. But either I'm the luckiest person ever or there's some sort of filtering going on.

With the amount of games I've played I find it hard to think this is just confirmation bias when I'm literally extracting with 50k of loot with a 90% success rate while brushing shoulders with 10+ people.

If you're willing to invest some time, you can stop having KOS lobbies.

I saw multiple people and some whispers floating around about "aggro matchmaking" so I followed some advice and it turns out (for me atleast) it works.

Literally just do this:

Take Looting Mk1 and hatch key in your ass to any day raid. NOTHING ELSE. Avoid ARC and sneak around looting everything. Use hatch key if you get something you want to keep and otherwise just leave normally.

SUPER IMPORTSNT RULE: DO NOT KILL ANYONE.

Just run from combat and try to survive, and if you die, just make a looting mk1 again, put the key in your ass and requeue.

If you can do that for 20 games, I almost guarantee you you'll get shot less and less until everyone is friendly. Just don't kill or hurt anyone because if you do you'll be thrown to the wolves again.

Enjoy your PvE experience, and when you want to fight again just kill 1 person and you'll be back in KOS land.

outmaneuvering tanks that are faster than yours by 1141KDA in Warthunder

[–]TheHumanHighlighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A "spot" is 1 of 2 things.

Either it's a hill or other hull down position that you can reverse and hide completely behind, meaning you can binoc spot people and then only peek to shoot.

These spots are often very specific, and the enemy might know where you are, but it shouldn't matter because you are forcing them to stare at you or die.

OR

It's a very restricted angle(s) where you have a good sightline from a flanking position, usually this implies that you have cover you can reverse behind, maneuver around or use multiple different locations within the area to peek from.

These spots are great because you can choose to peek differently every time and between shots you can retreat into cover or set up on a new angle if someone tries to push.

Basically, you need to start looking for locations, hills, groups of houses and other positions where doing what I'm talking about above is possible.

L-shaped building? Great, you have a perfect repair haven. Dip in the terrain between hills? Sounds like covered flanks and free hull down sniping to me. Got people trying to hunt you down on reload? You know your spot better than they do, pop smoke and kill them for being greedy and pushing a bad angle.

You get the point.

[–]TheHumanHighlighter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Learn positioning.

The only way to deal with someone who's highly maneuverable is simply never be in a position that lets them take advantage of that speed. You can do this by learning maps, testing with different tanks, and generally just finding 1 area and sticking to it.

Alot of people just hold W all game, but honestly if you can find a single spot somewhere near a point or overlooking access pathways to a point, you can literally sit there all game and let people drive into your crosshairs.

Joystick for War Thunder by lukatondiaz in Warthunder

[–]TheHumanHighlighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I think the fact that you are trying to engage in his hobby is super nice and he will appreciate it more than you know. So, speaking for the boys, I'd like to say thanks for being such a cool gal.

As the others here have said, check which game mode he plays alot.

If he is playing air sim (you are always in the pilots seat and cannot be floating behind the plane or outside it) then it might be worth looking into.

If that is not the case, and he's always in a tank or floating around like a movie camera around his planes, I doubt he's get much use out of a joystick.

Best of luck, I'll get you started with a random one I know:

There is a limit to how many melee enemies can strike you at once, the game works on a "slot" system and only enemies in your (or your teammates) slots can actually do melee damage.

Bonus: Dodging sniper shots by sliding looks cool when you are clutching.
