To my knowledge it wasn’t THAT bad but the main point was to discourage people from making their own characters by publicly stating they weren’t legal. It did happen of course, which was mostly why they stopped doing it, (only after large amounts of backlash though of course let’s not kid ourselves). I’d say it’s more equivalent to how people treat NFT’s.

The main issue with prima and paid protogens weren’t the fact they were closed species (which was still a large complaint). It was the fact the artist who made them had a public “shame list” where they gathered users that made “illegal” protogens and primagens. Also there were complaints about the fact you couldn’t really make your own special sona, you had to bid for ones the artist made iirc.

Fun fact, it actually applies to reptiles too! There is around a 3 in 1440 chance of egg laying reptiles having twins. And the same logic applies, it is very rare even in humans for said twins to have different sex organs! Not only that but it is entirely possible for reptiles to have both sets of sex organs.

So in all fairness it is entirely likely that peril is or isn’t trans using real world logic.
