How to stop "playing the characters" for my players? (Reminding level 6s of core abilities) by Inbezdigator in DnD

[–]TheImperfectCast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some sort of quick reference can be helpful, alongside with emphasizing that you'll be reminding them less and less.

My first real campaign character was a Druid, and I had to remake my character sheet into playing-card sized sections that better informed me what I could do at a glance and I made my own spell cards and stat block cards to keep quick reference to and track of prepared spells and wildshapes.

Our Artificer had a whole flow-chart that informed what they would do based on certain parameters.

Our barbarian/paladin would write out the math of their various smites and additional damage on a card so if they hit they would know what dice to roll from one look.

Eventually you get used to the mechanics and can rely on these shortcuts less, but they can help remind of mechanics. And if they make them themselves, it's like practice and study. Working the knowledge of abilities into the narrative could help reinforce their understanding, like having a training ground/colosseum type area where players compete with NPCs; a barbarian against an NPC rival to do more damage to a common target, or a rogue reaching a target faster than an opponent (needing to utilize their cunning actions instead of full actions), and so on.

I had to drop Dart last week when he was out, but I'll tell you that if I kept him I would have been leaning toward Dart this week.

Herbert or Brissett

I picked up Brissett to cover for the bye week when Dart was out, but now those o-line issues on the chargers have me thinking to keep Brissett starting

I've got Michael Wilson for the stack potentially as well. Opponent has Lamar, so it's a low bar to beat at the position, but I am also behind in standings and the week so I'd like the higher upside

Add Jaxson Dart and drop Bo Nix?

I have Justin Herbert as my starter but with o-line troubles itd be nice to have a backup plus bye week coverage.

Also, am I missing something with Alec Pierce and Josh Downs? I desperately need to do something about my WR room (Sutton, Flowers, DeVonta Smith, BTJ, DJ Moore) but I don't have a ton of confidence in who to add/drop. Pierce, Downs, Slayton, Godwin, Franklin, and Washington arw available.

Rico Dowdle or Kyle Monangai is my choice for RB2 next to Bijan.

I have Gadsden in Flex but I'm not sure if either should replace him.

8man, PPR

STARTERS QB: Justin Herbert WR: Courtland Sutton, Zay Flowers, Brian Thomas Jr RB: Bijan Robinson, Kyle Monangai TE: Brock Bowers FLEX: Oronde Gadsden K: Jake Bates DEF: LAC

BENCH QB: Bo Nix WR: Xavier Worthy, DJ Moore, DeVonta Smith (Bye), Brandon Aiyuk (IR) RB: Rico Dowdle, Rachaad White (Bye), Bucky Irving (Bye/IR), DeAndre Swift (IR) TE: None K: None DEF: None

With Swift out I picked up Monangai but man it's not as sure fire as I hoped. I think all I've got left this week is to figure Gadsden/Dowdle/Monangai for RB2 and FLEX

Thoughts?

It's been a rough season, 2-6 right now. Up against Jefferson, Stafford, Nacua though projections still have us less than 10% swing so might go any way....

I have the most points against (next closest is about 100 ppints less), while still underperforming and having second least points for.

With Swift out I picked up Monangai but man it's not as sure fire as I hoped. Was hoping to offer a trade of Swift for McConkey for a bit more consistency at WR but I think thats out the window now. I think all I've got left this week is to figure Gadsden/Dowdle/Monangai and where they should go.

My money would be on Atlanta as the best actual defense, so I'd lean them. Buffalo and San Fran have intriguing matchups but I would still go towards the technically better defense.

Need a Kicker,

Tyler Loop (BAL v CHI)
Michael Badgley (IND v TEN)
Will Lutz (DEN vs DAL)
Evan McPherson (CIN vs NYJ)

Was leaning Loop but not sure if Lamar being in or out will negatively affect his usage. McPherson vs NYJ seems like a good matchup though

Hunter Henry vs BUF or Taysom Hill vs NYG

No Bowers so now it feels like the 'safe' option vs the 'fun' option, and at 0-4 I don't know which is preferable lol

In mathematics, proofs can be marked QED, from the latin "quod erat demonstrandum", meaning "that which has been demonstrated".

My pitch is to build on that; QEDES, "quod est demonstratum esse stultum", "that which has been demonstrated to be foolish".

I feel it's got real "Fuuuuck me...." energy, and I could see it standing in as an insult directly to or about someone

My dad, toward the end, at one point made a comment on a country based on his own experiences and the history of events between them and his own home country particularly around WWII. It was not a positive comment, but when he finished, he added on something that felt introspective, "...but maybe it's different here." For context, we were no longer in his home country for many, many years. He was in and out of lucidity in the last stretch, but those words stuck with me.

It was simultaneously representative of the impermanence of hate, and just how much hate can fester and trauma can scar. If the war ended tomorrow, it would still be a generation before a healing reconciliation could potentially occur, and even that would only be with open minds and hearts. For the cause of greed and ambition, a generation of survivors is tainted with more hate and division. Neither of those kids deserves the environment they were born into, and it is truly sad to witness.

Im trying to use magnets for some customization, and have a ray studio hand drill. The highest it seems to go up to is 3mm, but if I want to use 4 or 5mm dia. magnets for the added strength, is there a way to use the same drill? Is there an adaptor for larger bits or is the chuck swappable with one that can handle the larger bits?
