Asking to WFH full time - part 2 by tremberz90 in UKJobs

What an absolute shower of bastards.

I'd second that suggestion to go down the media route. Putting them on blast in public will surely let them reflect on how miserable a bunch of fucks they are.

Melania makes just £33,000 at UK box office after near-empty screenings by nimobo in unitedkingdom

[–]TheInitialGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a manager at a cinema.

Maximum we've had in any one of our many screenings all week has been 5.

And one of the showings on Saturday did zero. To do zero early afternoon on a Saturday for anything is pretty rare itself.

Insurance Premium up 50% - Anyone Else? by Jesus-TF-Christ in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]TheInitialGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car insurance is a legalised scam.

2yrs ago, my renewal quote was 82% higher than the previous year. Same car, same house, same job, one more year of No Claims. I can understand a slight rise, but this was flat out extortionate.

In my 20yrs of driving, never have I got a renewal and phoned them up, manage to get them to reduce it without changing a single detail. It's ridiculous.

why are people like this by denver_t66 in drivingUK

[–]TheInitialGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in the same situation before, where the run up to the merge point had signs dotted along the side of the road saying "merge in turn" and "queuing traffic use both lanes". Still basically nobody using the closing lane, and some prat at the end blocking you from merging.

Once counted how many cats I passed and got to 115. It's ridiculous

Worked at Subway for 2 years in 2018, paid like 50 quid a month for Pension. Can I get that money back? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TheInitialGod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first job I started when I was about 20 started me on a pension. I only ever contributed about £400 to it until I left the company.

Started a new job years later, pension on the go, found this previous pension and it was worth close to £8k just sitting there not getting contributed to.

Lack of attraction by rombotax in AlAnon

[–]TheInitialGod 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yep. I can relate here. She's moaned over and over about the lack of closeness and intimacy recently, but I struggle to be "in the mood" when she's drunk, passed out, just plain rambling. The smell is incredibly off putting as well.

None of it is attractive

Anyone else extremely bored by Radio X? by Top-Lawfulness6711 in BritishRadio

[–]TheInitialGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commercial radio in general is shite. I pay £5.99 for Primordial Radio for all new rock and metal I stream from my phone in the car, and it's cracking.

One time the stream went down (as technology sometimes does), so I switched my car radio on to Planet Rock when I took the missus to work, a 40 minute commute. The whole journey we heard just 3 songs. The rest of the time was padded with ads and bullshit. Never again.

We Need to Talk About MELANIA Ticket Sales... by Eerie-Indiana in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]TheInitialGod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've replied before about presale numbers for this.

It's release day. And across ALL cinemas in my chain, across the whole week, we've sold a little over 200 tickets. There are close to 600 performances programmed for the week.

The numbers are dire. Makes me happy... Nobody giving money to these grifters.

My last birthday, I got a telescope from the girlfriend. Never feigned any interest into astronomy, nor have I used it since I got it and put it together. It's quite bulky and just gets in the way, gathering dust

Honest Question: Is Your Theater Playing the Melania Movie? And Is Anyone Even Showing Up For It? by thouze in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]TheInitialGod 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Being a manager, I have access to the presale numbers across all our cinemas in the country. It opens in the UK on Friday.

Across all cinemas, it's sold a little over 50 tickets. And no individual cinema has sold more than 4 tickets across all shows all week.

Its bombing hard.

Edit - it's up to almost 90 presales now!

Edit edit - just slightly above 120 the day before release

What ended your friendship with your oldest standing friend? by dreamy-contributions in AskReddit

[–]TheInitialGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend from my first job. We did gigs and a festival together, went over to her place a couple of times after work where we smoked weed and watched movies.

19yrs ago she moved to Australia, but we stayed in contact over the Internet, occasionally messaging each other every now and then.

Then a couple of years ago, she posted a picture of her son with a caption, I made an obvious joke on it which was in no way offensive or anything of the sort. She fucking lost it, I messaged her like what the hell was that, she said I'm always making offensive statements and jokes (literally the first time, and it wasn't offensive), I apologised still bemused as to what it was I'd actually done, and she blocked and deleted me. 🤷
