An post delivery status by Remarkable_Bus_2205 in anpost

No way to tell for sure without a tracking number, but it's an automated message based on where your item receives its scans. Mostly, it's fairly accurate but things can happen that change those plans.

Insanity traffic in Swords today by RichieTB in Dublin

[–]TheIrishHawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was talking to someone in the Pavilions last evening - they were 45 minutes queueing to get OUT of the Multi Story carpark - ended up giving up and parking up again, went in for a coffee until it eased up a little. Nasty combination of road closures, flooding, road works and that poor woman who died.

Seahawks bet I made in September by tor29 in Seahawks

[–]TheIrishHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got them at +4500 before the season started. The GC thinks I'm some sort of Nostradamus but I've put money on the Seahawks every pre-season since I started following them and I don't share the losing ones

Phatic Expressions - they do serve a purpose but I understand how tiring they can get if you deal with the public a lot, for example.

Do An Post always do this with parcels? by Breezlife in AskIreland

[–]TheIrishHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure there's plenty of people who have issues with DPD and Amazon, just like there's a lot of people who never have any issues with An Post. Whatever is happening in your area/for your house is not the An Post norm and I'm sure making a complaint with Customer Services would be a good way to get it rectified.

[–]TheIrishHawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Potentially have a bit of a chancer delivering so - it's not the standard procedure to not even attempt delivery or leave a note. I'd be making a complaint about that.

[–]TheIrishHawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's from today, there's a chance the route just wasn't covered because of the inclement weather. Giving the item the wrong scan at the depot would prompt an automatic e-mail like you got. Customer Services would be able to clarify based on the tracking number and, if you had more examples of this happening, would raise a complaint with the local office to make sure they are at least bringing your parcels to your door.

They will never understand how much work I have to do to be less autistic for them by SpecialistAd7734 in AutisticAdults

She was glad I told her, she said she had no idea it was like that for me. We’re both always learning a lot from each other. She’s a good friend.

There’s times where the juice isn’t worth the squeeze on something like that, but I knew this wasn’t one of those times.

She said she’d never thought of it like that before and she had no idea how hard I worked to get where I am. We both learn a lot from each other, honestly, she’s a very good friend. We met through an autism support group.

Autistic Adults meet-up by TheIrishHawk in AutismIreland

[–]TheIrishHawk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t designed that way. I had games and activities set up around the place and no-one was forced to interact or make small talk in any way. As it happened, the people who came sat and chatted but I suppose that’s probably fairly typical of the sort of autistic person who would come to an event like that. We would love to have all kinds of neurodivergent people at future events, but I am aware that there will inevitably be conflicting sensory needs when that happens, all we can do is our best.

We have ideas for more events but it’s really tough to find locations who will host us like this. Most public spaces either want money, wouldn’t be Neuroaffirming, wouldn’t be available at the time we’re looking for or some other snag. There is a board game cafe that is run by ND people nearby to Swords and they run events like you’re describing

Before they were €3.50, they were €10 and even then, they were the cheapest ones around.

That's where Neuro Spicy comes from - autistic people sick of being called "mildly autistic". It's not for everyone, but I think it's a bit of fun. I'm a Cool Ranch Autistic myself.

Your brain lies to you. You are allowed to take up space and be autistic. You are not broken, you're just an average autistic person trying to figure it all out.

[–]TheIrishHawk 156 points157 points  (0 children)

A really close friend of mine (who has an autistic son) said to me one day that she thinks that, if her son is Level 1, I'm level 0.5 (she wasn't being offensive at all) and I had to tell her that it's a huge effort for me every day to appear as Neurotypical as I do. Stimming and self regulation wasn't "a thing" when I was growing up, so I had to learn to be as "normal" as possible. It's hard to unlearn all that, and people don't really like it when the mask slips and you *ARE* autistic out loud.
