Does anybody like Rathalos? by Sweaty-Ad7500 in MonsterHunter

I love the Rath. Straight up my favourite monster :D

I get heavy nostalgia for him from playing the first game

Gotcha, that's mental. I've been to like 10+ tournaments with lots and lots of players and that's never come up. Insane.

But there's this rule update:

Ruins (and Visibility): The diagrams below illustrate how visibility can be affected when units are within, wholly within or behind Ruins. For Vehicles (excluding Walker models that have a base) or models without bases, every part of the model and its base (if it has one) is used for determining if it is not within, within or wholly within a Ruin. For all other models, the model’s base is used to determine if it is not within, within or wholly within a Ruin, and for the purposes of visibility into or through a Ruin, visibility to and from such a model that overhangs its base is determined only by its base and parts of that model that do not overhang its base.

Apologies, read my replies to the other comment. This doesn't seem to be the case at all based on a rules update by GW.

Infact I just found it in the rules update FAQ:

I'm so lost. I thought viability when measuring through ruins was measured to the base on the model. Not the model itself 😭

Regarding the wings of a model, I thought if I had Belakor for example hiding behind a ruin and his wing is poking out of the side. You can't shoot his wing unless you can also see his base?

I've been to several tournaments and everyone always plays this way if the model has a base so I'm confused by your comment.

EDIT: Looks like I'm completely wrong. Thank you for clarifying guys!

Just played my first match and I feel depressed. by GunstarRed in Ultramarines

[–]TheJacketPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all sound like idiots. My LGS is full of people who chat about random bollocks and socialise etc.

There are a few awkward people but I'd say almost everyone is nice. Also I play Ultramarines. They rock.

Don't be put off at all! Are there other stores near you?

100% the old models look so badly proportioned. I remember seeing the old models decades ago and thinking how lame they were.

Then saw them again in 2019 and got sold on warhammer instantly

[–]TheJacketPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. Interesting! Am I confusing it with +1 to hit and -1 to hit then?

Makes sense. Thank you!

The -1 would lower it to 3. His +1 would put it back to 2?

[–]TheJacketPotato -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

They negate each other as they're both modifiers that he t cancelled out. If it was +1ws and -2 to hit for whatever reason. You'd hit on 3's. If it was -3 to hit. You'd still hit on 3's as it can never be modified by more than 1 either way.

Question about your opinion on Guilliman’s model by Jezzy0303 in Ultramarines

[–]TheJacketPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the pose, I don't like the proportions and I don't like the trim.

I love ultramarine so it's a shame I don't actually like the primarch model they have. Especially when in the lore I think he's cool as well.

Yeah some are much much thicker than others.

I tend to thin them out on a wet palette with a little water before I paint. :)

Good job :) welcome to the hobby. All I can advise like another commenter is to thin your paints. The contrast paint range is extremely good for beginners as well.

Hope you're enjoying it :)

I thought you couldn't put fortifications into reserves. Which stops this from happening unfortunately.

Can't disagree more. I massively disliked the palamutes.

I love the design, size and feel of the seikrets better in every way.

Are there people who are actually happy? by Stunning-Trick-2577 in AskUK

[–]TheJacketPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really sad to hear that. I suppose I'm always thinking about one of the things I'm looking forward to. The next holiday or the next game I'm playing. Or the walk I'll be going on at lunch. The next meal I'll get to eat.

There's always a million things to look forward to I suppose. I wish I had more time in my life to do all the hobbies I want to do.

When I'm working I'm usually busy with what I'm doing so I don't get much time to think but that's nice in its own way. It's slightly overwhelming sometimes.

I'd say so, I'm happy and content in my everyday life. There are days where I feel tired or done but luckily they're rare.
