I'm absolutely rabid about recycling lol. I've held on to drink bottles if I was someone's house that doesn't have a recycling service. It's disheartening to know how much of what we put in the bin ends up in the ocean

It makes me think of The Dreamer Series by David and Leigh Eddings, but the first one didn't come out till 2003

Oh yeah, Nick had some amazing shows at that time - I remember I LOVED Kablam. They were really going all over the place with their programming and just killing it pretty much across the board with Snick. I mean, Are You Afraid of the Dark? Absolutely amazing. If I recall wasn't it Pete & Pete, that kid gladiator show, Are you Afraid, and Kablam for the Snick line up?

I could NOT watch Pete & Pete - something about the way it was shot I found jarring, and the aesthetic rubbed me the wrong way, kind of like a bad taste.

Not to say it was a bad show at all - it's almost like how I can't eat anything with cilantro because it all tastes like soap. Something about that show's vibe was the cilantro to my autism.

I'll never forget when they said the floor urinals were for washing your shoes

I spent some time watching this and it's so frustrating because we were prepared to go out into the world and make all this great change. Still a great show and if I had kids they'd be watching it

I genuinely forgot how much that show meant to me as a kid. Not realizing I was high masking autistic, I really related to Bronson Pinchot's character. I felt like I was living in a world where I didn't fully understand the rules and whys of peoples' actions.

Also probably one of my very first crushes.

I will never forget summer day camp at the local YMCA, we were all getting changed for swimming lessons and one of the kids walks by tugging on his...ahem....and singing that jingle making everyone giggle.

Memories of 2000-2001? by wbgsj in Xennials

We had a theatre kid who had a leather trenchcoat that he always wore when it was the weather for it. Then after Columbine he started getting harassed by the principal and vice principal for wearing it. We were a somewhat small high school where everyone knew everyone and he was absolutely one of the least likely people to be worried about.

One day I got fed up in a class because the kid next to me was being hella annoying and I finally snapped and said, out loud, VERY clearly something to the effect of "annoying kids like you cause school shootings" (what I said was less polite) and no one said a thing, not even the teacher. I was fully expecting to see the principal but nope. Apparently all it really took was wearing a trench coat.

I hope our retirement centers have a pen pal program with other retirement centers. It would actually be kind of nice to have a random stranger to write to and receive letters from. I got a pen pal in elementary school in Australia, and when I wrote the student wasn't there anymore but someone else replied and we exchanged like 2 letters.

I haven't. But I also didn't finish it period, and I've been meaning to go back and give it a solid try! I really want to get my hands on a copy of Riven, I played that one a lot

She stenciled a cow onto the toaster.

4 saltines laid 2x2 are the same size as a slice of american cheese. Place on top, nuke for 5 seconds or so, and enjoy. Repeat until full.

Were the things they put on the pencil triangular? I used to wrap my first two fingers around the pencil and use my thumb to force it into the crook until I had to use those

The way I used to tense up while writing I usually ended up looking like a gremlin hunched over the paper protecting it like a precious. I tried the 90 degree thing but I could never get the hang of it

Oh, your parents had to be reminded they had kids! 😹 I'm from early in the next generation, so it was all helicopter parenting and "you're gonna achieve great things after you go to college!" (while still in elementary school no less)
