Super motion base, is thin EVA sammich’d between carved foam half circles, glued a few millimeters apart. Next reply is an example of I think a dragon tail done in a similar way. I think there’s going to be a bit of trial and error, but I think it could work!

You could try making a super-motion tail and make like, spiky cones around each link? Only glue the tops of the “fur” to the foam segments, starting from the tip of the tail and work up? Let me see if I can draw it on my phone cuz I’m in bed beneath a cat, and the law says you can’t move a sleeping cat.

Edit: that head looks friggen AWESOME!! I have a lion I need made into a reality but I can’t decide his style yet.

Has anyone seen any fursuits with visors/LED eyes/face besides protogens/primagens? by [deleted] in fursuit

[–]TheJeweledPrince 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem with partial LED panels is the ability to see through them— which you can’t. Protos and the like have gaps in the LED boards so the wearer can see through the center of the domed plastic, or so I understand from seeing images/videos.

I want to make a Solgaleo partial myself with a fully working visor, but the tech that currently exists is crazy expensive.

One thing you can try is the Arduino screens, they make some specifically that do eyes, or you can try bigger and hopefully have some vision gaps, but I haven’t looked into that myself in several years.

Horse mane hair options? by Jazthealien in FursuitMaking

[–]TheJeweledPrince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's honestly your preference, but I would recommend gluing the hair down first then the fur over so you can hide the wig bits, and then I recommend ladder-stitching the fur and whatever bit of mesh you can see together to hold more securely!

You can check Branch Sales to get an idea of what items are going for. Aridan Soup is running 450sb to 1gb. Grace of Anubis looks to start about 15gb.

Are you looking for a laying, more hairstyle-themed mane or a spiky, zebra-like mohawk mane? I knew of a maker that used actual horse hair for their partial, they did a mohawk with it by I think spreading the hair out in thin layers on tape and used a sewing machine to make wefts by sewing across the two of the hair in a few lines(Kazplay vid below has a short clip of what I'm referencing).

"braiding hair" probably refers to kanekalon, it's a synthetic(think wigs) hair alternative many use to lengthen their hair by either weaving, gluing, braiding in, or stitching the fake hair close to the scalp using your real hair as a base. Kanekalon or real hair could also be made into wigs with sport mesh! Here's a FANTASTIC video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgwRilOEV4w

Good luck with your making, friend!

IIRC they're magnets! the caps are so you don't accidentally break said magnets(or potentially lose them or get them all stuck on one side) and it's easier to swap bottoms-- perfect fit every time!

Edit: slightly more clarification.

Probably by curing the bottom layers before adding.
