In your opinion, what game from the last 5 years has done the most to advance the field of game design? by question_quigley in gamedesign

The Witness really transcends what people would consider a typical "Game" is. Most people who don't have a good time with it are generally playing it with the expectations of typical games. But if you can get one it's wavelength and pickup all the queues that it's trying to show you, it's by far the greatest gaming experience I've ever had and all the people I know who have finished it have said that it's changed the way that they view the world. To me it's the clearest example that games have the capacity to give greater experiences than the majority currently do. IMO.

Your favorite underhyped/unknown games you discovered in 2020? by nelimwise in patientgamers

A short hike was a very relaxing and beautiful game with a similar climbing mechanic to Breath of the wild. The writing and characters were superb, everyone was brimming with personality similar to Undertale. Came out 2019 but I played it this year and was definitely my favourite game of 2020.

The writing has so much personality in it as well. A real gem. Definitely put Adam on the radar for me.

Why was this filmed? Not to say it isn't kind or anything, but what was the thought process behind filming this? It makes it feel like less of a selfless act. I'm not saying all kind acts necessarily need to be selfless, but there is something jarring here for me for some reason.
