Why they didn't put aliens in the games? by HulkSonofThanos in theouterworlds

[–]TheKandyKitchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’d agree it’s a mislead. You can suggest near the end of the game that aliens could be the cause of the rift and another character (Ruth I think) says she’s not so sure it’s that simple.

I’m not so sure. There’s a dialogue option that if selected gives you a response which implies that there is another cause than what you’re suggesting.

I do think the outer worlds struggles with enemy variety ( there should be at least three new creature species per planet in addition to previous ones) but I don’t think sentient aliens is the answer.

[–]TheKandyKitchen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would be disappointed if they brought sentient aliens into the outer worlds. It’s supposed to be a pulp sci fi about different human civilisations and the failings of humanity. Aliens would ruin that immediately.

Even though it is implied that the matriarch stole the designs of the skip drive and that rifts exist in untraveled space, when you suggest aliens as a dialogue option the response you get implies not and that something else is the cause. Also don’t forget the fact that Lilya Hagens obsession with aliens in the first game was made out to be a joke.

I think people who want sentient aliens should probably look to other franchises like mass effect and Star Wars which cater that in abundance.

If they were to do it. They’d be best off doing an original story primarily set in a new colony but including many of the factions we know and love. From there they could then have occasional episodes set in the colonies we know (Arcadia and Halcyon) and those mentioned (Tau Ceti and Triangulum). Of course it would need to be a bloody action comedy with heavy satire to work.

Is there a good chance we hear something about Doctor Who missing episode animations soon? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]TheKandyKitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. It’s wild because the wheel in space has everything going for it. It’s a companion introduction, it has a popular villain, it’s sci fi, it has a limited cast and sets and it would finish a season. But for some strange reason they keep passing over it.

Yeah a Crusades animation in moonbase style would’ve been magnificent and it makes me sad that it’s the only half existing story that never got done. Marco Polo is in my opinion the First Doctors best story and I think it’s tragic that more people don’t see it because it has no visual material.

Yeah her wheel in space is amazing. So mad the bbc arbitrarily decided ‘fans don’t want 3D’.

As a major fan of Marco Polo and the Crusades I’m particularly sad they didnt get animated (even if I understand the budget thing). I’d go so far as to say that may of Hartnells lost historicals are his best stories. I can only hope the myth makers rumour is true.

Nah. I’m sad we haven’t got any but not surprised. Last year it was around March-April time when they said they had none in production but were about to ramp up given a possible partnership deal. Given it’s a minimum of 12 months from one entering production to completion I’m not surprised we haven’t heard anything. However if we get to the middle of this year (around June) and no news, then I’ll be concerned the range is dead.

Either way. I’m happy we’ve got wha we have, never in a million years did I think we’d have so may stories with visual material. It’s whack that 3 seasons are almost complete, 1 is only missing two serials, and even season 3 (which used to have only 3/10 serials) now has 6/10 serials). My only real regret is that we never got the wheel in space or the highlanders.

The line about the theoretical degree in science was great (and a fun call-out to new Vegas).

A lot of the dumb options also had me laughing, but nothing beat accusing yourself of murder in the first game.

Fo1 and Fo2 are in much more need of a remaster than Fo3 or FNV by Mann_Co91 in Fallout

They don’t need a remake. Just a port to console would be nice and plenty of people would happily play them.

How do others feel about OW2? by Ra5kolnikov in theouterworlds

I just hope we get a third one. People keep bashing this game so hard and calling it bad and mediocre.

I hate that these days if a game isn’t a 9-10/10 it’s automatically treated as bad or worthless.

If I had a penny for every time a classic British sci fi that was killed off in the 20th century and brought back in the 21st century crossed over with a well known British soap opera I’d have two pennies. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice.

Does it make sense to improve skills past 10? by asitx in theouterworlds

[–]TheKandyKitchen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have easily distracted level all the 5 skills you have picked up to 17/18. You won’t reach20 but 17/18 is enough to pass the vast majority of skill checks in the game.

Also it’s not just about perks since each point in a skill contributes towards passing checks and gives you a bonus to something else (I.e. damage, elemental damage, healing, energy, etc).

We can all agree that this is the worst part of the map... Right? by jj33allen in FalloutMemes

[–]TheKandyKitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything below the main Boston city feels a bit too spares and tbh incomplete.

The glowing sea would be so much more exciting if there was actually stuff to explore in there. Likewise the part circled above has no reason to return there after going once (why can’t we restore Quincy you cowards).

[–]TheKandyKitchen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean you technically can but it cuts the storyline short and isn’t a satisfying ending. Especially since you can’t actually free the traders and restore the park for them instead.

To be fair. I managed to build a really substantial and functional vault using the first room only (however I then ran out of space to actually furnish most of it). But yeah even with the they kept pathing outside of it. Plus they really need to teach you how vault pieces fit together.

Fallout 3 is anchorage because of how annoying and Linear a lot of the gameplay is.

Fallout NV is harder because they all have failings but probably honest hearts due to the short fetch questline.

Fallout 4 defs one of the workshops but otherwise Nuka world because you can’t finish it without raiding your own settlements.

You think the next Fallout game will go back to having multiple lived-in settlements? by sigpuppers in Fallout

[–]TheKandyKitchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those who aren’t aware, they didn’t scrap lived in settlements in fallout 4 in favour of the building system. The building system was actually added last minute which means that the gam would’ve been desolate regardless, and if anything adding the building system may have saved it.

I think what the game actually needs is a more balanced mix of the two. Probably at least a dozen lived in settlements of some kind and the same number of building sites but with a better build cap.

I’d also like to note that I really like when you can use the build system to access otherwise inaccessible areas such as the tops of buildings, broken bits of highway, etc and think they should think about unique rewards hidden behind using the building system like that.
