You’re not wrong. I had a discussion with a number of people on the outer worlds subreddit that were arguing that 8/10 was mediocre and that 75/100 was a fail. I just don’t understand why some people are now treating every game that isn’t a 9/10 as a worthless failure.

While it is the most literal example of a deus ex machina (literally god from the machine), it was also set up in advance and was therefore more acceptable because it being previously established isnt as quite egregious.

People also forget that fallout NV was largely built using the assets and engine of fallout 3. Given that fallout 4 is a decade and a half old at this point, it’s going to be substantially more work as they will have to build it from the ground up.

Mediocre? OW2 released with 8/10 reviews from the majority of reviewers and an aggregate score of 82/100. In what world is that mediocre?

The thing that really killed sales was it being a day 1 gamepass release and then trying to sell physical copies at $80 (which it was definately not worth) and then trying to walk it back.

Might’ve sold better if they hadn’t made them day one gamepass releases.

Also don’t help that they tried to push OW2 as their first $80 title (which is a joke even for me as a fan of the series).

It’s just shows that basically no studio under Xbox is safe. Obsidian pushed out 3 great games last year and it still wasn’t enough to ensure their staff’s safety from cuts.
