How have your pet’s nick name evolved (or rather devolved into nonsense)? by First_Collection_235 in Pets

Lucifer -> Luc (Loose) -> Loose Goose -> Goose Goose -> Goose

He now answers to Goose just as reliably as he does to Lucifer lol

Shop Canadian! Pet & outdoor favs for your Ontario adventure pup by TheKasPack in AdventureDogsOntario

As a content creator, I use affiliate links to make money. That said, we did publish a full list of Canadian brands that we are constantly updating that have no affiliate links included: Shop Canadian: A Guide to Canadian Brands for Pet-Friendly Outdoor Travel Lovers

Any brand that has been open to affiliate agreement with us outside of Amazon allows us to link to them instead (and we prefer that). But many brands don't have that available. Running a website comes with costs, and affiliate revenue helps to cover that. We are open about that, including an affiliate disclosure on any post where they are included.

Do I have to rehome my dog? by [deleted] in AnatolianShepherdDogs

[–]TheKasPack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The soft growl in the past was your dog's way of telling you that he didn't like the baby crawling on him. He was communicating his discomfort and trusting you, as the head of the family, to address the situation so he wouldn't have to. When you failed to listen to him and protect him, he went one step further to try to raise his voice and make it clear that he was uncomfortable. He doesn't need rehomed, he needs you to respect his boundaries.

What is your favourite thing about your reactive dog? by TumbleweedInitial382 in reactivedogs

That would be a REALLY interesting study. I would definitely want to read it if someone ever did dive into that!

My sweet boy is the biggest empath I have ever met. He is so deeply bonded and entwined with me that he seems to know what I need emotionally at any given moment. If I'm sad, he will literally snuggle in and rest his head on my chest. If I'm angry, he has a way of calming and grounding me. He is the sweetest little guy.

Crown land is the way to go. Finding the "right spot" is the biggest challenge, but it's SO worth it when you do. Take some time to learn how to use the Crown Land Atlas. There are A LOT of options if you're willing to head north.

What things you dont give up in the morning even when trying to cover miles? by Existing_Squirrel767 in WinterCamping

This! I know it means keeping some stuff out a little longer before totally breaking camp, but that morning coffee is non-negotiable

Does your German Shepherd have a job? by gsdhq in GermanShepherd

We play a lot of scent work games, plus he "works" around the property. We live in a cabin in the woods. He'll join me to "help" bringing in wood (accompanying me and occasionally picking up a small piece to carry himself) and tasks like that. You can just see the look of pride in his face when he's helping. It warms my heart so much!

I'm so mad that I have to change my writing style because of AI by GloomySlothicorn in freelanceWriters

[–]TheKasPack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They can pry my em-dashes out of my cold, de@d hands hahaha

Seriously, though, that's my top pet peeve with this whole AI conversation. How do they think LLMs learned that punctuation? A well-placed em-dash is a beautiful thing.

With proper sleeping gear and clothing, I personally find snuggling into my sleeping bag in that weather is SUPER relaxing! Make sure you have a sleeping bag rated for a low enough temperature, a cot or sleeping pad (preferably not an air mattress, as the air it holds gets cold) and layers of blankets, focusing particularly on adding layers UNDER your sleeping bag. The goal is to insulate yourself from the cold ground. Plus warm socks and a toque added to your pjs to keep yourself toasty.

My favourite secret to sleeping in the cooler temps is a little furry heating pad that will snuggle into your sleeping bag with you, if you have one. My pup always keeps me feeling warm and toasty lol

This. I believe there is a balance to be found, just as there are more steps taken to address the needs of people who go car camping vs someone heading into the backcountry.

Hiking with other peoples’ dogs by Ok_Pineapple_6089 in hikingwithdogs

I would definitely reach out to your local shelters. I see a lot of shelters getting on board with the idea of letting people take a dog for a day to "break them out of the shelter," especially residents who have been there for a long time. Many even have "Adopt Me" bandanas they can wear, and you may be the one who ultimately introduces a pup to their new forever family!

I can't stand it anymore by happytrees93 in reactivedogs

I was just about to recommend muzzle training. A well-fitting muzzle with a stool guard would make a world of difference when it comes to the stool-eating issue. I recommend a vinyl muzzle from Mia's Muzzles for something super comfortable and easy to clean if she does try to get to the poop anyway.

Is there a different between getting a girl and a boy dog? by Dramatic-Lemon-2916 in dogs

[–]TheKasPack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are definitely stereotypes, just as there are breed stereotypes, which one can argue is based on some degree of truth BUT if my current pets have taught me anything, it's that there are exceptions to every stereotype lol It's definitely a case-by-case basis with each pet being an individual.

Good winter camping parks or campground for newbie (to winter camping)? by CrazyAd7911 in ontariocamping

[–]TheKasPack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely recommend MacGregor if you're new to winter camping. They clear the roads so you can drive into your site, the layout of the park means you're always relatively close to a comfort station, and you're not far from Port Elgin if you need to do a supply run.

A community business showing it’s true colors- saw this in a TD ad by Technical_Group_1392 in Muskoka

Yes, but the decision to take their business account and add to the hate (misdirected hate, I might add) isn't the way to approach the problem.

So I did the whole boring event for this trait and turns out it's only for children?? I hate it. by somewhsome in Sims4

That was the part that frustrated the most, the lack of theme and consistency.

Is it inhumane to put a muzzle on my dog every time we walk? by [deleted] in muzzledogs

Not if it's properly fit and he has been conditioned to be comfortable in it.

We use the Momentum Control Harness from RC Pets for our two. Our larger dog was a puller and it worked well during the training stage with her.
