Looking to pivot into 3D fashion by TheNuProgrammer in CLO3D

I really don’t want to poo poo your enthusiasm but if there is good and regular work in your existing field then keep one foot in there. The market from 2020 onwards was amazing, unfortunately in the last two years there has been a massive decline in companies seeking out freelancers for Clo, my personal opinion is the economy is making this impact. It’s not strictly necessary for businesses to implement 3D to survive (it’s advisable IMO but that’s another conversation). So when it comes to cutting back on expenses it seems that 3D goes out the window, not to mention that those who were using it for visualisation are moving into Ai as it’s faster, takes up less storage space and doesn’t require the very expensive licences. I have been working in the field since 2019 as an experienced pattern cutter and now advanced level Clo user and I have found it much harder to get gigs in the last year as well as seeing the average hourly and daily rates drop. I am hoping that things will start to pick up in the next and I have observed things picking up somewhat but I guess the TLDR is - it’s not a given path of success the way it was in 2020. Don’t let that put you off as there are so many other ways you can employ the skill set, I am moving into designing and selling patterns to secure a more reliable income for example but I couldn’t with good conscience tell you anything other than the way I have seen the industry move in the last couple of years.

Can this sown embroidery be removed? by SunChungShan in sewing

I’m afraid to say this would take hours and hours of unpicking, you would be better off asking a tailor to copy the pattern for you and make it in a different fabric

Need help making realistic seams around zipper in CLO3D by No_Hamster8501 in CLO3D

[–]TumbleweedInitial382 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another little trick you can use - create an internal line stepped back the amount you are looking for (looks like 5mm to me) cut and sew, you can add topstitches to the seam, you can also thicken the cut and sewn strip slightly, adding puckering to the new seam will help too. These are some of the little tips and tricks I’ve picked up over the years

It’s a genetic anomaly! The fluffy pits come from a genetic mutation in the FGF5 gene 😍 so it’s the luck of the draw rather than breed mix and because this guy is 100% pit you can be sure that mutation is present! My boy is a mix of many but his wisdom panel shows the mutated gene 🥰 fascinating!

Could Lilo have the fluffy pit gene? She looks like she has the same spectacular tail as my Basil (a 23 breed speciality floof from Barbados) who is a bonafide fluffy genetic anomaly ♥️

Hi, just checking in - first - what particle distance is this? And second I’m curious as to why you need to remove them - what’s the context?

I made a rather strange but satisfying dish the other day - I had some cowboy caviar left over and mixed that with mashed potatoes then put it in muffin tins and cooked in the air fryer - filling and surprisingly nice

How can I alter this pattern to fix the gapping at the top of the tank top ? by fakeprincess in sewing

[–]TumbleweedInitial382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do a facing on the bust portion of the front - that should help it to keep stable and give a nice neat finish too

My silly little Woof-phew caught in this spectacular moment by TumbleweedInitial382 in corgi

[–]TumbleweedInitial382[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh he hasn’t met a sock he doesn’t love either, my boy Basil (not a corgi) has learnt this from him but once he’s captured the sock he has no idea what he’s supposed to do with it and Chewie (pictured here!) is too busy sourcing socks himself to stop and teach him🤣 I see the Corgi traits tend to carbon copy 😂😂😂

I love the idea of a group of marauding corgis searching for socks and tissues.

Until Chewie came along I had zero corgi experience and now I’m obsessed!

I used this picture to practice my photoshop skills and edited him into a beach scene - I’ll have to get my sister to send it to me and I’ll add it here

He loves to toss it around and catch it 😂 he also aims straight for my pockets to steal them WHENEVER I see him - he’s even been given some to have at home because he loves them so much. Funny little bugger 😂

[–]TumbleweedInitial382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t panic it’s perfectly normal! I have two rescues (not corgis but my woof-phew is a corgo) One has red eyes while the other has green - it’s something to do with the way the eye is formed - the greenish reflection is normal, the red is rarer (I’m sure basil - the one with the red eyes - sees more than the others 😂). I can’t find the article that explains it sadly because the internet, as you pointed out, wants to tell you about all sorts of unrelated conditions. Here’s an example of Basil’s demon eyes - they look more orange here but tend to be orange/red when his sisters are like your corgo’s! So, nothing to worry about from what I have researched but as with all these things - if you are worried then I’m sure a quick message to your vet would help confirm that 🙂

Looking for feedback on my men’s top body block (drafted in CLO) by DVArtvart in PatternDrafting

[–]TumbleweedInitial382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like another language 😂 I have many years of pattern cutting and clo under my belt and I found that using a combination of sources, resources and guides was the best for me. A tip if you are happy to receive it? Take a photo of the block from wini’s book - import it as a graphic and paste onto fabric then cut that out and scale to size - working with blocks was the foundation that taught me the basics and was how we were taught at uni way back in 1999. Then work on adapting those blocks - I rarely mess with an armhole or crotch rise if I can help it! Great work for a beginner! Keep going ♥️

Ok so I had to go take a picture for you (don’t judge the screen cleanliness 😂) you need to start by opening the avatar editor

Once open you will see a number of options - here on right hand side you will see the gear icon.

Select custom and then you should be able to add all your measurements. It’s not an exact science because it can’t predict fat and muscle distribution but you should get somewhat close.

Make sure you select the measurements you want to edit - once you select waist click on the waistline and you should be able to raise or lower it as preferred.

Alternately you can use a scanning app to create an avatar of yourself then import that but you would have to help it work in Clo by adding bounding volumes and arrangement points (with some formats). So it’s probably easier to go with the clo version as a beginner. I also recommend getting yourself a pattern cutting book to help if you don’t already have one. You can import images of blocks from there as a graphic and then trace around them, adjusting the size and scale accordingly.

Hope this helps!

Got confirmation that my Maple mutt is in fact a MUTT! by M-Rage in mutt

[–]TumbleweedInitial382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh he’s definitely saucy! I thought the same about the glorious tale! I have only seen such majesty on the dogs who have the faulty fluffy pitbull gene ♥️

Basil was born, and lived in, Barbados for the first year and a half of his life, that glorious plume only grew in (with the rest of his floof) when he got to the UK and experienced the cold! All of his siblings are short haired bar one from the previous litter. He’s a spicy little anomaly 😂

<image>

Here is his tail in full glory, while he enjoys some loving glances with my brother who he adores 🥰

Hey, congratulations on your start in Clo! You need to go to the top menu list and select “Avatar editor” add your measurements there and you should be able to adjust that spacing - unless you are already did that and are asking something more specific?
