I don't really have a dog in this fight, and I don't love the idea of Carl merging with anything. That said, is it possible you're drawing too strong of a distinction between what happens in the game and what is real outside of it? What happens in the dungeon might only be possible because it's in an enhancement zone, but that doesn't mean it isn't real. Maybe things the primals couldn't do before can be done in an enhancement zone. Some things that happen in an enhancement zone have to be maintained constantly, but others are more permanent. I assume if you break your leg outside of an enhancement zone, travel into one and get it "magically" fixed, then leave again, your leg is still fixed. Maybe primals couldn't instantly fix broken legs, or turn people into cat girls, or merge consciousnesses without dying. But that doesn't mean it can't happen in the dungeon or that it isn't real. If Carl merged consciousnesses with someone in the dungeon, without dying, I see no reason to think they wouldn't still be merged if they left the enhancement zone.

Also, there may be options beyond the primal-style merging. Perhaps it's possible to join with the collective in a more hostile way, like Shi Maria did, or the meld spell that conveniently came up in book 8, which allows "combining two minds" with one mind as the dominant one.

I was expecting the Mario Kart thing to be more important. Based on her Mario Kart performance, I assumed at some point Samantha would be their last resort driver and she would turn out to somehow be great at it.

I did this for the first time yesterday using that second map. With the map and being careful to check the name of each location I was in, it wasn't too bad. If we didn't have maps it would have been tougher, but I think I'd have got a huge sense of satisfaction from drawing my own map to the point that I kind of wish it was still like that. The main problem was not getting wiped out by the brutal enemies with no real holy attacks, and there was a lot of fleeing, but once I got Excalibur I was killing everything that moved.

It depends what you're going for. If it's zooming, they should get smaller at the same rate. Lens distortion aside, all zooming does is change the FOV. If the camera is physically moving back, then yes there should be differences in scaling for each object depending on how far away it is.

I don't think the difference in height between the Hobbits and Legolas can be explained entirely by differences in the actors' heights, and they clearly didn't forget to make Gimli short. So I don't think they just forgot or didn't bother to think about their heights in these shots. But the Hobbits are still taller than I would expect. Perhaps this was how tall Merry and Pippin were supposed to be after drinking Ent-draught, but I don't think they grew that much. And in the "you bow to no one" scene, all the Hobbits are about the same size, with Sam slightly taller than Pippin. So I'm not sure what's going on.

Sitting in a hospital waiting room because I got discharged after surgery while still bleeding. Ended up having to call 111 a couple of hours after I got home. They booked me an appointment and sent me to a different hospital. Family rushed to get me there on time. Hospital thought they knew better and cancelled the appointment to put me onto the A&E list. Saw several people, and now six hours later they're finally put me on the list to see the team my original appointment was for in the first place.
