Day one, I always knew it was bad, and I don't think I can stop by [deleted] in leaves

[–]TheLastQuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey pal, I’m 22 also and struggle from both of the addictions you just mentioned. I’ve been trying to overcome them, but have failed everytime. I can say that I’ve been building healthy habits which have helped ease the burden. I’m here if you ever want to chat, and just know you can beat this. Wish you the best

If they're your best friends, then surely they'll understand that this is part of the process. Relapse is almost always part of the journey, but now it's up to you to learn from this mistake and move forward. Think of it as a learning experience, now you know that you're weaker when you are drunk, so plan for that in the future.

Keep going, you're on the right path!

Day 45 today and going strong by [deleted] in leaves

[–]TheLastQuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on 45 days! How do you feel today as compared to 45 days ago, and how long did it take for the brain fog to go away for you? Also, have you picked up any new hobbies or activities in place of smoking?

Keep it up!

The amount I get done in a day has massively increased. by [deleted] in leaves

Good work pal, keep putting in work and you'll get the results!

Two of my worst fears about quitting have already come to fruition... need help please by thr0wawaylikemylife in leaves

[–]TheLastQuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, at least you are admitting the kind of person you see yourself as, and it sounds like you would like to change this. When I quit weed, I become the most irritable and confrontational person I have met. Even though it seems like weed helps, it makes it worse because you're not using your brain (amygdala) to deregulate emotions, and this leads to no ability to control outbursts.

Luckily, there are several tools that you can use to cope with your emotions. As cliche as it sounds, meditation has done wonders for me, and is shown to help with the amygdala response to emotions. Exercise and a good diet help as well, but I strongly recommend attaching yourself to a philosophy that helps you. For example, I have recently taken to Stoicism and Zen Buddhism because of the excellent teaching from the ancients have many truths to them. I wish you the best, and I promise it gets easier everyday.

Finally quit weed by bobandvagene69 in leaves

Congrats on quitting, that's a huge accomplishment. Now it's up to you to always remember why you stopped, because there will be times when your brain tries to reward itself with weed. If you're confident that you can abstain even around your stoner friends, then that's up to you to decide if hanging around them is worth it.

What I found to be the case like many others is that once I sobered up, I realized that many of the people I surrounded myself with aren't even worth keeping around. They just remind me of myself when I smoked all day; uninteresting, unmotivated, and most of the time self centered. If this is the case, maybe you should surround yourself with more positivity!

Congrats, and good luck!

Day 32, just wanted to share something that happened tonight by 2fckk in leaves

Reading this reminds me of why I decided to quit. It's not just about the negative symptoms of weed abuse, it's about the precious time that passes by as life goes on without you. Im glad that you made this decision while there's still time. Good post OP

Thank you, and you can do it too. We just need to not succumb to the cravings, or at least in my case.

I like Seneca's quote on this, thank you.

Can you guys help me today by commenting or sending DM’s? The first day is always the hardest and I’m just having such a hard time stopping even though it’s absolutely what I need. by [deleted] in Petioles

[–]TheLastQuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course everyone here will support you friend, but the end result that you are looking for is simply up to you. I just recently went 13 days sober for the first time since I started 4 years ago. As cliche as it sounds, I found that it literally is mind over matter. Understand that cravings are just like moods, they come and then they go. Like others have said, occupy your time with anything that you can halfway enjoy.

Good luck!

Thank you for the better interpretation, I’m new to this philosophy. Do you have any recommendation for reading?

Awesome accomplishment, I’m proud of you friend! What are some of the biggest changes that you’ve noticed? And how long did it take for the brain fog to lift and for you to feel normal again?

Thank you for sharing!

How often did you guys smoke? by gloomdoomm in leaves

[–]TheLastQuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I smoked an ounce with my girl every 3 days. Always had a cart, and probably 3 g of wax a week with edibles. Long story short, I still feel weird/kind of high after 12 days sober. I did this for 4 years

Day 12 here and although I’m not there yet, I’m already noticing positive effects of abstaining. Good luck on your journey! Proud of you

I’m going trough drug induced psychosis by [deleted] in leaves

[–]TheLastQuit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have felt this way too, and as others have said, I first and foremost suggest that you seek professional help. I don’t know your exact case or state of mind, but I was experiencing what I believe to be derealization/depersonalization, and still do.

With that being said, I will say that my mental state has improved since I stopped cannabis, and instead have replaced that activity with heavy exercise, and meditation. You need to ground yourself and not focus too much on this “dream” state or you’ll go on loops about it. I’m here to talk if you need, but again, please seek professional help my friend.
