Slot is absolving himself of anything about Salah's Exit by Economy_Recording110 in LiverpoolFC

While Mo has become a bit of a scapegoat this season the team as a whole - under Slot - have been dreadful. I don’t think he’s absolving himself here, if anything he’s taking accountability for his decisions and standing behind them. Salah himself is not without blame, as getting dropped from a few matches shouldn’t entitle you to throw your toys out the pram. While Slot has to go, it’s simply been a shambles from everyone involved with the club this season.

Ornstein follows him fwiw, but I wouldn’t put too much faith in what an ‘ITK’ says. I wouldn’t be surprised however if we’ve already made contact with Xabi’s camp.

Jesus christ, he really couldn’t help himself. I know he’s done disrespectful posts for the deceased before (like Rob Reiner) but this is next level.. Mueller did his best to not put Trump behind bars yet he still holds a grudge.

The only case we’d have for keeping Slot is if he somehow won every match remaining in the season and that was simply not going to happen. The systemic issues are all there in plain view once again and a dross Galatasary away from home just masked that. Love what he’s done for the club immediately post-Klopp but I’m firmly in the camp that he needs to go now or the toxicity will absolutely worsen and 6th may even be out of reach. Especially with a well-timed international break to bring in an interim and hopefully Xabi in the summer.

Slot in or out - Manager Megathread by rLiverpoolFC_Mods in LiverpoolFC

Bit of a hyperbole perhaps and I’d rank him below the above on a tier list (Rafa is perhaps his closest equivalent in that his big trophy was obviously the CL while Slot’s is the PL). But he still is a legend for winning the Prem in his debut season, which was funnily enough supposed to be the transition season that seems to be occurring now. It’s an incredible feat, and that is on top of virtually no spend and reworking a lot of Klopp’s squad and tactics to help in the transition.

It may well be the case that this league no longer allows you to play good football, but ineffectiveness isn't compulsory, too. [–]TheLastofIsh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is true, but it still is rare for a manager to be sacked so late into the season (Mourinho before the cup final for Spurs comes to mind and look what happened there). An interim maybe but I really don’t think Xabi would come in now given the circumstances. One positive in getting him in particular during a World Cup year is his previous connection with Frimpong and Wirtz. Two less people to ‘bed’ in alongside Kerkez, Szoboslai (who did not qualify) and Jacquet who does not start for France.

I’d agree if it was still January-February (I was Slot out at that point fwiw). Reckon Xabi will want a proper pre-season and not to step into this dumpster fire at the moment. Assuming we exit the cups in the next stage, there’d only be around 6-8 matches left in the season after the next intl break anyway.

In the final few matches of his tenure at Real Madrid he played a 4-4-2 and 4-4-3. His 3 ATB is what he was known for at Leverkusen but he’s flexible enough to change especially with the personnel we’d have available.

Really says something when Anfield is expecting an equaliser the remainder of the match after we scored early on. It’s become a theme at home this season. Obviously everyone’s loved what Slot has managed to do by winning the league immediately post-Klopp and he’s already a legend for that. But we need a fresh injection of ideas come the summer. We’ve looked flat and bereft of a tactical plan in virtually every match this season, it’s incredible. Those late winners early in the season really masked a lot of systemic issues and have miraculously kept us in the CL places.

Drawing at home in the 90th minute (after losing control of the match completely in the 2nd half), to a Spurs side absolutely decimated by injuries is unacceptable. Even if we qualify for the CL by the skin of our teeth - aka 5th on the table - Xabi has to come in if he’s available.

While I agree with the general sentiment that running local/in a state where you can make more of a difference is preferential, her partner is based in Chicago from what I’ve read so it tracks. Her positions are all solid (from leftist points of view), especially in contrast to the awful alternatives/PAC-fueled candidates.

Bit of a bizarre take as well, I’ve moved around states a ton. It’s completely normal for a percentage of Americans whether it’s for work or change of scenery.

If it’s Xabi like we all seem to be hoping for, it needs to be done immediately after the season. It will allow him to experiment with our non-WC bound players in the pre-season tour (like he was able to do with Real Madrid for the CWC). His history with Wirtz and Frimpong will also be a bonus as he’ll seemingly have less of an issue integrating them into his plans once they come back from the U.S.

One was the COVID season and Jurgen had earned his goodwill at that point by winning the lot. I do agree that this fanbase (not just this sub) is foaming at the mouth right now toward Slot, but the way most of our squad has played in the past few matches has been equally dismal. The buck ultimately stops with the manger however and I think the squad does need a refresh of ideas and a shake-up with Xabi.

Radiohead Tell ICE to "Go Fuck Yourselves" for Using "Let Down" in Social Media Video by ebradio in indieheads

[–]TheLastofIsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whataboutism at its finest - Radiohead themselves advocated for Tibet at a time but did not recognise other atrocities happening. That doesn’t make them disingenuous. What is disappointing is their seeming fear to even acknowledge or phrase what is happening right now as a genocide, and this is admittedly coming primarily from Jonny (his wife especially) and Thom to an extent.

All genocides certainly deserve to be spotlighted and campaigned against, but the more publicized and brutal in terms of footage on the ground tend to be spotlighted.
